Usha Vance Shares Adorable Family Photos Welcoming Baby No. 4

Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, have shared their first photos with their newborn, baby No. 4.

“Thank you for all your good wishes as we adjust to life as a family of six,” Usha, 40, posted alongside images shared on Instagram on Friday, July 24.

Announcing their new son, Usha wrote, “Meet Alec — enjoy our attempts at a decent family photo with four kids!”

The photo series showcased JD, 41, Usha, and their three older children — sons Ewan, 9, and Vivek, 6, and daughter Mirabel, 4 — sitting on a couch with Alec cradled in JD’s arms. A third image highlighted a close-up of Alec in a light blue Western-themed outfit.

The journey of Vice President JD Vance to the White House wouldn’t be complete without his wife, second lady Usha Vance. Their love story began during law school, and it gained more attention when he was selected as President Donald Trump’s running mate for 2024.

JD and Usha made the announcement of their fourth child’s birth via a joint statement shared on X on Sunday, July 19.

“We are thrilled to announce that our son, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning. Both Usha and the baby are doing well, and our kids are excited to meet their little brother,” the statement said. “We are incredibly grateful to the wonderful military doctors and staff at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit for their care. Thank you for everything you’ve done for our family.”

Married since June 2014, JD and Usha welcomed Ewan in June 2017, followed by Vivek in February 2020 and Mirabel in December 2021.

The couple had announced in January that they were expanding their family once again.

“We’re very excited to announce that Usha is expecting our fourth child, a boy,” they noted in an Instagram statement. “Usha and the baby are in good health, and we can’t wait to welcome him in late July.”

The statement added, “During this exciting time, we’re especially thankful for the military doctors who take such great care of our family, helping us serve the country while enjoying a fulfilling life with our children.”

JD and Usha are the first vice presidential couple to welcome a baby while in office since Schuyler Colfax and his wife Ellen Colfax in 1870 during the presidency of Ulysses S. Grant.

The arrival of their fourth child follows months of speculation about their marriage amidst rumors when Usha was seen without her wedding ring in November 2025.

“[She is] a mother of three young children who does a lot of dishes, gives many baths, and sometimes forgets her ring,” a representative for Usha explained to People at the time.

JD later stated in an interview with NBC News that his marriage to Usha was “stronger than ever.”

“In life, you accept the good with the bad,” he shared with the outlet in December 2025. “You recognize that there are sacrifices but also many wonderful moments that come with it.”

He added, “She said, ‘Oh, if I don’t go back and get them, some ridiculous person will talk about it on social media.’ I replied, ‘Let them. It’s not worth running back upstairs.’ We found humor in the whole viral cycle on social media.”
