The Ultimatum Star Speaks Out on Being Removed Due to Note Controversy
The Ultimatum‘s Jebin John has finally addressed his departure from the show due to a contentious note.
In season 4, which debuted on Wednesday, July 15, Alex Johnsen and Jebin were part of a couple aiming to progress in their relationship. After dating for six years, Alex issued Jebin an ultimatum regarding engagement.
While the couple was interacting with other contestants as part of the dating experiment, Jebin was seen passing a note to Alex. Later, hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey had Alex read the note aloud to everyone — resulting in both Jebin and Alex being dismissed from the show.
On Wednesday, Jebin took to TikTok to make light of the incident. A social media user commented that they would have “snatched the note and ate it,” to which he responded, “I ain’t gonna lie, I should have Superman-dove across the table, grabbed the note, put it in my pants and then looked at Nick and been like, ‘What you going to do now?’”
He continued: “But I knew the producers probably had a plan because they anticipated I would do something wild. So, I decided to keep my composure and maintain a serious expression, so they couldn’t edit me in a certain way.”
Jebin also addressed another comment suggesting that the show “did him dirty.”
“They act like I’m a bad person,” he said. “It would’ve been great if I was still part of the show.”
Jebin’s exit is a first for the franchise. The Ultimatum trails actual couples as they partake in “trial” marriages with new partners before deciding whether they’re ready to get engaged to their original significant others.
Nick addressed Jebin directly on-screen for not taking the situation seriously.
“Communication is crucial in this experience, and I believe you all know that,” Nick commented to the six couples participating in season 4. “But that communication must occur in front of the cameras. That’s part of the process.”
Vanessa noted that Jebin seemed unprepared for the experiment, stating, “Jebin, I think I can speak for everyone here in saying that your lack of readiness impacts the entire group negatively.”
In his letter, Jebin shared his frustration after Alex developed a bond with fellow contestant Killian Grondin.
“I want to believe things can improve, but you crossed the line this time. I sincerely hope you two weren’t intimate on camera,” he expressed. “I’m not dealing with this. Who knows what else has happened? It seems like you’re into him. There’s no way we’re getting married.”
The Ultimatum is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
