Amanda Seyfried Honors Her Beloved Dog Finn Following His Passing at 16
Amanda Seyfried is paying tribute to her beloved dog Finn, who sadly passed away at the age of 16.
“This one’s forever and ever,” Seyfried, 40, shared on Instagram on Saturday, June 25, alongside a selfie of her lying next to Finn.
In the comments, Olivia Munn left a heartfelt note, writing, “Fly high, sweet pup 🕊️♥️♥️♥️.”
Seyfried adopted the Australian shepherd while filming the HBO series Big Love, which aired from 2006 to 2011.
“Immediately after I got him, within 24 hours, I realized I needed him in my life,” Seyfried told People in 2019. “He transformed my life, helping me find both my solitude and independence. During my early twenties, my lifestyle was chaotic with no constants.”
She continued, “With my unpredictable career, it was challenging to know where I’d be the following month. That’s why I decided to get him.”
Seyfried also mentioned that she now ensures her film contracts allow for Finn to accompany her on set, unless it involves long-distance travel.
“I can’t imagine being anywhere without him,” she said. “Except in England. I have to leave him when shooting movies there, as I wouldn’t subject him to that plane ride unless I’m there for a significant duration, since he has a great life when being cared for by my agent.”
Five years later, Seyfried opened up about how Finn has significantly influenced her life.
“[Pets give us] purpose. We can’t deny our need for purpose, and taking care of animals who can’t speak for themselves brings us so much more than we could ever offer them,” Seyfried told People in a 2024 interview. “I can’t imagine what my twenties would have been like without Finn. I stayed out of so much trouble because I had him to come home to.”
Seyfried reminisced about bringing Finn home, initially thinking she would “find a place for him and keep him for a few weeks,” but she quickly fell in love with him.
“I was determined to keep him safe, and in turn, he kept me safe,” she reflected. “I struggled with anxiety and OCD, and my twenties were challenging in their own right, so he grounded me in a way nothing else could have.”
