Martha Stewart Openly Discusses Meghan Markle’s Cooking Show
Martha Stewart recently shared her thoughts on being in the same room as Meghan Markle and her cooking show. “We were both guests at a dinner party in California. She had just returned from the palace. I didn’t speak with her much, just exchanged a few words, but I know she was discussing it,” Stewart, 85, explained in an article for People on Wednesday, August 5.
When asked about With Love, Meghan, Stewart commented, “Transitioning from actress to princess and then to a homemaking guru on a television show is quite a leap. It doesn’t quite follow. So we’ll see where it goes from there.”
Meghan, 45, introduced her brand, As Ever, in 2025, the same year her Netflix lifestyle show premiered. The show, which ran for two seasons plus a holiday special, featured the Suits star alongside familiar faces creating recipes and sharing hosting advice.
Various sources reported in January that With Love, Meghan would not be renewed for a third season, with Us confirming in March that Netflix ended its partnership with Meghan’s As Ever brand.
Throughout the years, Stewart has been vocal about her perspectives on Meghan’s shift to the lifestyle space after relocating to California. (Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, announced their decision to step back from senior royal duties in 2020. They now reside in California, raising son Prince Archie and daughter Princess Lilibet.)
“Authenticity is crucial,” Stewart remarked to Us in September 2024. “Can Meghan Markle truly design her products? Has she used them? Is she able to speak confidently about them? That’s essential. She is incredibly famous, and I’m eager to see what she develops.”
A year later, Stewart conveyed a message to Meghan following the launch of As Ever: “I don’t know Meghan well, but I hope she understands her subject matter,” Stewart told Yahoo Lifestyle in 2025. “Being authentic and knowledgeable is vital.”
While Stewart refrained from discussing Meghan further, she expressed admiration for Gwyneth Paltrow, founder of Goop. “Gwyneth has achieved significant success; she has built an intriguing array of businesses,” Stewart remarked, adding, “She won an Oscar, for heaven’s sake — she’s quite powerful.”
