RJ Decker Season 2 Trailer Unveils DWTS Crossover Details
The season 2 trailer for RJ Decker has unveiled additional insights into the exciting Dancing With the Stars crossover, featuring appearances from Joey Graziadei, Jenna Johnson, and Val Chmerkovskiy.
In an exclusive sneak peek shared by Us, RJ (Scott Speedman) encounters a variety of new cases, each one more outlandish than the last. ABC viewers were treated to delightful clips from the season 2 premiere, showcasing Graziadei, 31, in a scripted part, alongside Johnson, 32, and Chmerkovskiy, 40, as they flaunt their dancing talents in individual clips.
“Nice moves out there,” RJ comments to Graziadei’s character, who appears to be pickpocketing unsuspecting individuals. “I have pictures of you in the act.”
The storyline involving Graziadei seems tied to a case alluded to in other promo segments, where RJ accuses a suspect of robbing banks with friends “without their pants on.”
Based on Carl Hiaasen‘s novel Double Whammy, RJ Decker follows an ex-convict and disgraced newspaper photographer who attempts to start anew as a private investigator amidst the vibrant yet crime-ridden landscape of South Florida, taking on cases ranging from the peculiar to the downright absurd, with assistance from his journalist former partner, her police detective spouse, and a mysterious benefactor from his past who may prove to be his biggest ally or his ticket back to incarceration.
Speedman portrays the titular character while Jaina Lee Ortiz, Kevin Rankin, Adelaide Clemens, and Bevin Bru comprise the rest of the ensemble.
The season 1 conclusion of the popular series ended dramatically as Emi’s (Ortiz) father, Victor (David Zayas), was killed shortly after being arrested and subsequently released for his offenses.
“Victor was intended to exit in a ninth and final episode, as we settled on it, probably around the midseason point when it seemed fitting,” creator Robert Doherty revealed to TV Insider in April. “It felt like a strong punctuation mark to conclude our various first-season arcs.”
Us provides a first look at season 2, suggesting that Emi seeks RJ’s help after assuming that her father’s death at the hands of a dangerous individual is connected to organized crime.
“As insightful as Emi is, it’s something she could never foresee, and she’ll need to navigate through that,” Doherty elaborated earlier. “This will make it challenging for her to be around RJ in the short term. It’s not that she blames him, but looking at RJ inevitably reminds her of the path that led to her father’s murder in his home.”
Dancing With the Stars will kick off with a two-night event airing on ABC and Disney+ beginning on Tuesday, September 15, at 8 p.m. ET, while RJ Decker will make its return on the same day at 10 p.m. ET.
