Lauren Alaina Expecting First Child with Husband Cam Arnold
Almost six months after the passing of her father, country music artist Lauren Alaina has exciting news to share.
On Wednesday, January 22, Alaina announced that she is expecting her first child with her husband Cam Arnold, whom she wed in February 2024.
In a statement released to People, Alaina confirmed her pregnancy after subtly revealing the news in her recent music video, “Those Kind of Women,” where she showcased her baby bump.
“The song is a tribute to the women who raised me,” she shared. “I feel incredibly lucky to have been surrounded by strong women. When we recorded this song, I wasn’t pregnant or considering becoming pregnant,” Alaina stated to People.
“It’s interesting how everything fell into place. It changed my perspective on the song. I already loved it because it celebrates the women who raised me, but now I’ll be becoming a woman who raises a child.”
Alaina has not publicly disclosed whether she is expecting a boy or a girl.
“[I never realized] I could love something that I haven’t even held yet. I can feel the baby moving inside me; it’s kicking and doing all sorts of things. It’s as if my heart expanded like the Grinch’s,” she shared with People.
Alaina expressed that learning about her pregnancy has “strengthened” her bond with her husband “even more” compared to their marriage, as reported by People.
“My love for him deepened the day we married, and then discovering we are having a baby together. Navigating this experience alongside him has been truly incredible,” she remarked.
“I’m excited to see my husband become a dad,” Alaina continued. “He is deeply fond of our pets; he has a nurturing side. In fact, I knew that one of the best aspects of marrying him would be the partnership in parenting.”
Alaina shared that they weren’t actively trying to conceive yet and were hoping to start that process in 2025.
“Now I’m feeling anxious because I don’t feel equipped to handle it all,” she shared. “There’s no formal test for being a mom. People are asking me, ‘What’s your birthing plan? What’s your plan for this?’ And I’m just like, ‘Let’s stick to God’s plan; it wasn’t mine.’”
Alaina also feels that her late father played a role in the events that unfolded in the months after his death.
“I believe my dad passed away and helped orchestrate something good from above for us. This has been an unexpected blessing,” she reflected.
“We’re still processing the grief over my dad, but this baby has provided a lot of healing for us … as if it’s a small piece of my dad that continues to live on.”
