Alec and Hilaria Baldwin Discuss ‘Rust’ Trial in Upcoming TLC Series

The soon-to-be-released TLC reality series “The Baldwins” is set to tackle the topic of Alec Baldwin’s trial related to the tragic 2021 death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust.”

In a trailer for “The Baldwins” that dropped on January 24, Baldwin’s spouse, Hilaria Baldwin, seemingly alludes to Hutchins’ death, accompanied by aerial views of the New Mexico filming location of “Rust.”

“A son lost his mom in the most unimaginable tragedy,” she states. “This is something that should never be forgotten, and we are doing our best to navigate parenthood through it.”

Halyna Hutchins, a Ukrainian cinematographer, was a mother to a son with her partner, Matt Hutchins. She was 42 at the time of her passing, and their son was just 9 years old.

Hutchins died when a prop gun, which Baldwin was holding, discharged a live round on the Santa Fe set of “Rust” in 2021. Baldwin, 66, has maintained that he pulled back the hammer but did not pull the trigger, leading to the gun firing.

In the trailer for “The Baldwins,” Baldwin appears distraught at various times, although the cause remains unclear.

“Honestly, from the depths of my soul, I don’t know where I would be without you and our kids,” he expresses to Hilaria Baldwin within the trailer.

In July 2024, a judge dismissed a charge of involuntary manslaughter against Baldwin in relation to Hutchins’ death.

On January 9, Baldwin initiated a civil lawsuit in Santa Fe, claiming malicious prosecution and civil rights violations, alleging that investigators and prosecutors mishandled evidence and sought to “scapegoat” him, as outlined in court documents.

TODAY.com has contacted the district attorney and sheriff’s office in Santa Fe for comments but has yet to receive a response before publication.

The TLC reality series, debuting on February 23, chronicles the lives of the actor, his wife, and their seven children.

“We’ve faced tough moments, but we have established our foundation,” Hilaria Baldwin shares in the trailer.

The couple also hinted at the show in an Instagram video posted in June 2024, showcasing their children in playful chaos.

“We’re opening our home to show you the highs and lows, the good, the bad, the wild, and the crazy,” Alec Baldwin announces in the video.
