Blake Lively Makes a Quick Cameo in the Premiere Episode of Welcome to Wrexham

Blake Lively makes a brief appearance in the Welcome to Wrexham season 4 premiere — sort of.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney came together in Wales for the opening match of Wrexham AFC — filmed in August 2024 — featured in the latest episode of their popular FX docuseries, which debuted on Thursday, May 15.

In the premiere, the duo shares an embrace on the field as Lively, 37, is seen momentarily stepping into the background so her husband can deliver a friendly kiss on the cheek to McElhenney, 48. Reynolds, 48, is also spotted placing a special gift in the Wrexham clubhouse during this scene.

“One of our owners, I can’t remember which one, is Deadpool — that famous comic book character,” Humphrey Kerr, community director of Wrexham, mentioned in his confessional. “In the latest film, several cameos featured Wrexham AFC players.”

Paul Mullin, the team’s star striker, played Welshpool in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine. After the movie was released, Reynolds generously gifted Mullin’s costume to the team.

Reynolds unveiled the costume during Thursday’s episode.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Welshpool. This is going to lead to some fun drunken nights in here, I think,” he joked. “That’s the actual suit. Unwashed, of course. He probably used it as a bathroom.”

As he unveiled the costume, the camera focused on a crowd watching Reynolds, including Lively, who was beaming at her husband’s humor.

Fellow Wrexham striker Ollie Palmer also had a small role in the record-breaking Marvel film. He playfully hinted at his cameo while discussing it with Us Weekly exclusively before the film’s release last summer.

“I’d say Ryan’s [a] really imaginative guy. He’s an excellent writer,” Palmer shared with Us then. “There are definitely some surprises — mine might be just a tiny one. If you blink during a specific moment, you might miss me.”

He also mentioned, “It’s a small part, but it was enjoyable. It was incredible to be around Ryan.”

Palmer indicated to Us that he’s open to any opportunities that arise from Reynolds and McElhenney’s adventures — particularly as one of the standout stars of Welcome to Wrexham.

“I enjoy being in front of the camera,” Palmer stated. “Some people don’t, some outright dislike it. Some enjoy it but won’t admit it. But I genuinely enjoy it — even if I despise watching myself.”

New episodes of Welcome to Wrexham air on FX Thursdays at 9 p.m. and are available for streaming on Hulu the following day.
