Britney Spears Feels ‘Embarrassed’ by DUI Arrest Videos

Britney Spears is eager to leave her DUI arrest behind.

“Britney is feeling humiliated by the details and footage emerging from one of the most traumatic and regretful nights of her life,” a source exclusively shared with Us Weekly. “She believes it’s harsh, especially since she has sought help and worked hard to make amends. She just wants to move forward.”

Us Weekly has reached out to Spears’ representative for a statement.

Spears, 44, was taken into custody on March 4 after an anonymous report indicated she was “driving at high speeds and swerving.” A police report obtained exclusively by Us this week provided additional details of the night of her arrest, noting that officers saw the singer illegally crossing into another lane by “approximately” two feet multiple times.

As police activated their sirens, Spears “continued to drive” and “did not react immediately,” according to the report. A “distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage” was present when she was finally stopped.

“I could probably drink four bottles of wine and take care of you,” Spears reportedly told an officer. “I’m an angel.”

The report mentioned that Spears confessed to taking several prescription medications that day and had not eaten for hours. Officers found what appeared to be a bottle labeled “Adderall” in her purse, along with an empty wine glass in her cupholder. Spears allegedly “refused” to exit the vehicle at first.

Subsequent video footage of her arrest has been released. In one clip, Spears invited police officers to her home for lasagna and suggested they use her pool, as reported by TMZ on Thursday, May 21. Another video released the same day showed Spears being handcuffed and undergoing a sobriety test.

Us previously reported that after her arrest, Spears was taken to a local hospital for a blood draw. Her blood was below the legal limit.

“This was an unfortunate incident that is entirely inexcusable,” a spokesperson for the singer told Us in March. “Britney is committed to taking the appropriate steps and following the law, and hopefully, this can mark the beginning of the much-needed changes in her life. We hope she receives the help and support she needs during this challenging time.”

Following her arrest, Spears was officially charged with driving under the influence on April 30 while in a treatment facility. She accepted a plea deal during a court hearing on May 4, receiving a sentence of 12 months probation and one day in jail, credited with time served. Spears is also required to complete a DUI education program and pay $571 in state-mandated fees. Additionally, she was ordered to see a psychologist weekly and a psychiatrist bi-monthly.
