Chloe Fineman Departs Saturday Night Live Following Seven Seasons
Chloe Fineman is bidding farewell to Saturday Night Live, revealing her departure after seven seasons.
“After 7 incredible seasons at SNL, I’ve decided it’s time for my next adventure,” Fineman, 37, shared in an Instagram announcement on Thursday, July 16. “It might be a cliché, but working at SNL has been the greatest honor of my life.”
The comedian, who joined the show in 2019, expressed, “I still can’t believe I was part of it. I fell in love with the place from the moment I stepped through the door.”
Fineman also took a moment to thank SNL creator Lorne Michaels, joking that if he’s “reading this on your burner account,” she wants him to know “I’ll always be in your debt.”
“Every day I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by the best talent in the business, and I was continually impressed watching them create,” Fineman reminisced about her time on the NBC series. “Sewing a Jojo Siwa costume in 10 hours. Writing a cold open at 2pm on a Saturday. Wrapping up the VFX of a video minutes before dress (I’m not sure if ‘wrapping up VFX’ is the right term, but you understand).”
The actress reflected on how “humorous it is to look back now” after being so immersed in her work for an extended period — and experiencing the myriad emotions tied to live comedy performances.

“At the show, you invest so much in everything you do. You sob uncontrollably when your sketch doesn’t make it,” Fineman admitted. “You storm into a producer’s office insisting they’ve made the biggest mistake ever. You call friends to vent about it. And then later, you realize it was a sketch called ‘lipstick for thicc dogs.’”
Fineman acknowledged, “That’s just part of the show” — a lesson she has fully embraced during her time there.
“You admire it so deeply that you pour everything you have into it, even when it’s utterly ridiculous,” the TV personality remarked. “So you feel ecstatic when it succeeds and utterly crushed when it fails. Ultimately, it might not matter much in the grand scheme, but it certainly felt important in the moment.”
Fineman expressed, “Leaving SNL is incredibly difficult, but it feels like the right moment. I will miss it immensely. The people there are my family, and that place is home, so I know I’ll never really be far away.”
She wrapped up her farewell with a lighthearted note, saying, “And I promise, one day, they WILL make lipstick for thicc dogs.”
Fineman began her journey on SNL during the 2019-2020 season, gaining significant recognition during the pandemic shows filmed remotely from the cast’s homes in spring 2020, particularly because of her exceptional impersonation skills.

Throughout her time on the show, Fineman received acclaim for her portrayals of various celebrities including Drew Barrymore, Britney Spears, Jennifer Coolidge, and Kate McKinnon, among many others.
The fans have also embraced Fineman’s sketches like Snack Homiez, Forever 31, and the Domingo series that features Marcello Hernández.
While Fineman hasn’t revealed her next plans, Deadline reported on Thursday that she is in talks to join Netflix’s Myron Bolitar alongside Colin Woodell, KJ Apa, and Diane Guerrero.
