Demi Moore Praises ’80s Reunion’ with Rob Lowe
Demi Moore is overjoyed about her recent reunion with her Saint Elmo’s Fire and About Last Night co-star, Rob Lowe.
“About Last (Saturday) Night with @roblowe 😉,” Moore, 62, shared on Instagram on December 20. “An ’80s reunion to cap off 2024 — thank you, Rob, for introducing our @trythesubstance screening! Grateful for the past, present, and the future ♥️.”
She broadcast moments from the December 14 screening of The Substance in Beverly Hills, California, where Lowe, 60, surprised her, and they took a picture together with her treasured pet dog, Pilaf.
When responding to fan queries, Moore asked for “a little extra time” to think about her favorite film, just as Lowe unexpectedly leaped up from his seat to join her.
“I’m going to help you with that one,” he joked, stepping onstage to embrace her warmly. “About Last Night!“
Moore exclaimed, “Ladies and gentlemen, a special guest: Mr. Rob Lowe.”
The two starred in 1985’s St. Elmo’s Fire and continued with About Last Night the next year.
On Instagram, Lowe expressed, “So proud of my wonderful friend, Demi, and her outstanding film.”
Lowe’s mention of About Last Night as Moore’s favorite project resonates with his own feelings.
“From everything I did in the ’80s, if I had to choose one, it would definitely be About Last Night,” Lowe remarked on an October episode of Kelly Ripa’s “Let’s Talk About It” podcast, revealing their brief romance. “I mean, Demi and I briefly — I’m not spilling secrets — we had a thing.”
He added, “When young men and women are put together, sparks are bound to fly.”
Lowe also teased that he and Moore were in discussions about a potential sequel to St. Elmo’s Fire.
“Progress is being made,” Lowe shared during the podcast. “It’s a bit slower than I would like, but that might be beneficial since we’re searching for the right writer and story. Everyone involved is excited.”
He also expressed, “The essence of St. Elmo’s Fire today is that it’s never too late for joy—considering our kids have flown the nest, and some of us have faced divorce… all the complexities that arise as we age. This is a chance to delve into these themes with characters that audiences adore.”
Lowe remains hopeful for the same team to execute a sequel.
“I believe there’s much to share about why we’re pursuing this, and I’m genuinely thrilled about it,” he added.
