How Simone Biles Celebrated Her Spot on the 2016 Olympic Team

Simone Biles loves to indulge in a little luxury.

On Instagram this past Sunday, July 5, Biles, 29, shared a delightful memory: “Back in 2015, @alyraisman & I promised ourselves that if we made the Olympic team for 2016, we’d celebrate with a Celine bag 🥹🥲🤍.” This special treat came to fruition after both athletes secured their spots for the 2016 Rio Games.

“I still have it noted down in my notepad,” she mentioned.

Fast forward a decade, and Biles is considering acquiring another designer handbag.

“It’s our 10-year anniversary; I might just have to get another one,” she added.

In 2024, after her performance at the Paris Olympics, Biles treated herself to an Hermès Birkin bag. During her shopping trip, she captured a photo of stunning nude Birkin bags inside the Hermès store and playfully hinted at her splurge by sharing a picture of the iconic orange shopping bag.

“👀🫢😍🥹,” her caption read.

That year, Biles garnered headlines with her impressive Olympic performance, where she won four medals, including three gold.

In January 2025, while shopping with her husband Jonathan Owens, Biles bought another Birkin bag, this time a brown one with white stitching, gold hardware, and tan accents, retailing for $34,000, according to Maison de Luxe.

“😍😍😍,” she captioned her unboxing video. “Treated myself to a new lil baby while in New York,” she continued. “Jonathan came for emotional support; baby, I was sweaaaating.”

Biles first made the Olympic team in 2016, later withdrawn from most events at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics due to the twisties, characterized by a loss of spatial awareness. She made her triumphant return to competition at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
