Hugh Jackman Shows Support for Sutton Foster Ahead of Spring Gala Performance
Hugh Jackman was Sutton Foster’s biggest supporter as she prepared to take the stage at the New York Philharmonic’s Spring Gala.
On Tuesday, May 6, the 50-year-old Foster performed at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall, marking her debut with the NYPHIL as she sang Broadway favorites and popular hits. Though Jackman, 56, was unable to attend due to a scheduling clash with his off-Broadway production, Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes—in which he stars alongside Hollywood talents like Liev Schreiber, Justice Smith, Ella Beatty, and Maggie Siff—he proudly shared that his 8-year-old daughter, Emily, was in attendance for the performance.
Before Foster’s significant Philharmonic debut, she found support in Jackman. An insider exclusively informed Us Weekly that the Australian star was present at a rehearsal prior to the performance, and the couple departed the venue together.
Us first reported in November 2024 that Foster and Jackman began dating after collaborating on the Broadway revival of The Music Man two years earlier.
“They’re happier than ever,” another source told Us in November 2024, describing their relationship as a “wonderful next chapter” characterized by “playfulness and sincere admiration.”
The insider noted that Jackman is attracted to Foster’s “immense talent, infectious positivity, and grounded nature,” while the Tony-winning actress admires Jackman’s “kindness, professionalism, and ability to uplift others.”

Previously, Jackman was married to Deborra-lee Furness for 27 years, with their separation announced in September 2023.
“We are grateful for nearly three decades together as husband and wife in a loving union,” the couple, who share two adult children, stated in a joint announcement. “Our paths are changing, and we have chosen to separate to foster personal growth.”
The statement continued, “Our family will always be our top priority. We approach this new chapter with love, gratitude, and kindness, and we appreciate your respect for our privacy during this transition.”
In October 2024, Foster filed for divorce from her husband of ten years, screenwriter Ted Griffin. They share a daughter, Emily, and have yet to finalize the divorce. (Foster was also previously married to Broadway actor Christian Borle from 2006 to 2009.)
After the conclusion of The Music Man, Foster and Jackman have been successfully balancing their flourishing careers in theater with their burgeoning relationship.
“They’re not officially living together but spending a lot of time together,” another insider relayed to Us in February, reiterating that the two actors are “madly in love.”
According to this insider, their “relationship has become even stronger” since they went public last year.
“Having known each other for such a long time makes it easy to transition to the next phase of their relationship,” the source added, with a different insider stating that Foster and Jackman are “committed to exploring the next steps together” without rushing into marriage.
