Jaw-Dropping Soap Opera Departures: Kelly Monaco, Alison Sweeney, and More
When soap opera stars depart from their roles, it can be just as startling as the plot twists of their shows.
Alison Sweeney left dedicated Days of Our Lives fans in disbelief in 2014 when she revealed her plans to leave the series after a remarkable 21 years.
“I’ve been part of Days of Our Lives since I was 16, and over the years, I’ve only taken a two-week vacation,” the actress, who joined in 1993, shared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “As I celebrate my 21st year, I’ve made the decision for it to be my final one with the show.”
On the other hand, not every soap star departs by choice. In 2019, Daniel Goddard disclosed that he had been let go from The Young and the Restless.
“I am just as shocked and devastated as you are,” Goddard, known for his role as Cane Ashby, expressed through social media at that time.
