Kaitlyn Bristowe Responds to ‘Wait Until You Have Kids’ Comment: ‘I Gave Birth to Dogs’
Kaitlyn Bristowe is sharing her thoughts on her connection with her furry companions.
“The most genuine form of love. For me. Personally. I can’t stand when people say ‘wait till you have kids.’ I AM 39, SUSAN,” Bristowe, 39, expressed through her Instagram on Saturday, April 12. “I have dogs. And I gave birth to them. Period. It’s late. Goodnight.”
Bristowe, who paired the upload with Sneha’s “So This Is Love,” presented multiple black-and-white clips showcasing her cuddling with her dogs.
“I didn’t realize that the remedy for anxiety was also the primary source of it,” Bristowe mentioned in her comments section. “I cannot imagine life without them.”
The former Bachelorette once shared golden retrievers Pinot and Ramen with ex-fiancé Jason Tartick, whom she was with for four years before their split in August 2023. Though they tried to establish a shared custody arrangement for the dogs, Bristowe revealed that they were discouraged from doing so when the dogs began playing dead to avoid switching homes.
“I’m prioritizing what’s best for the dogs,” Bristowe stated in a September 2024 episode of her “Off the Vine” podcast. “[Jason] is always welcome to see them if he’s in town for the weekend or wants to take them for a stroll. I would never prevent him from seeing them.”
Tartick, on his part, adopted a puppy named Teddy in March. “From the moment I met him, I fell head over heels, and there was no going back,” he told Us Weekly about the puppy. “I’m crazy about him.”
After Tartick revealed the puppy’s name, Bristowe claimed during a recent episode of her “Off the Vine” podcast that he took her “dream baby name.”
“It’s not that I’m not over him. I am completely over him. I ended the relationship. I chose not to stay in it. It felt wrong to me. It felt like everything was just for Instagram and metrics. I wasn’t interested in that. But the fact that he named the dog my dream baby name, which I’ve had in my baby names list for 10 years, really bothers me,” said Bristowe. “I told him on our first day, ‘I want to name my baby Teddy.’”
She added, “I know I seem very angry, but it’s more about feeling disrespected. I have so many negative feelings from that time because for a long while, I felt crazy, and now I’m realizing, ‘Oh, I’m not crazy.’ I can see what others are observing now. It’s just not aligned. What I want from life is not what he wants, and two people like that shouldn’t be together. I’m not fully angry; I’m just really disappointed and disgusted.”
Shortly after her remarks, Bristowe took to her “Off the Vine” podcast Facebook group to affirm her statements.
“Yes, Teddy is a common dog name. Yes, he can name his dog whatever he pleases,” Bristowe wrote in her post. “AND it’s messed up that he knew it was my dream baby name. We discussed it for years. Yes, I have significant work to do in relationships AND I’ve already done a lot of work; I have seen remarkable growth in myself. I’m very proud of who I am today. My journey in processing and being myself doesn’t have to follow anyone else’s timeline.”
