Kim Kardashian Drops “Santa Baby” Cover Produced by Travis Barker
Kim Kardashian is back at it again with some festive tunes!
The Kardashians star and Skims cofounder, 44, delighted fans by dropping a cover of Eartha Kitt’s classic “Santa Baby” late Sunday, December 22, perfectly timed for the holiday season.
This new version of the song is produced by her brother-in-law, Travis Barker, who is married to Kim’s older sister, Kourtney Kardashian. The track made its debut on streaming platforms through DTA Records, which is Barker’s label, as well as Kim’s Kimsaprincess, Inc.
Alongside the song, Kim unveiled a music video on the same day. The dystopian-themed clip features Kim crawling on all fours sporting a blonde wig, surrounded by scattered money, while a quirky group of characters join in on a rather gloomy Christmas celebration. The video wraps up with a close-up of a peculiar Santa holding a video camera, who turns out to be Macaulay Culkin, renowned for his role in the beloved holiday film, Home Alone.
Kim shared via X on Sunday, “SANTA BABY, FILM DIRECTED BY NADIA LEE COHEN & CHARLIE DENIS, SONG PRODUCED BY TRAVIS BARKER,” alongside the eerie music video.
This Christmas cover marks 13 years since Kim first ventured into music with “Jam (Turn It Up),” produced by Grammy-winning producer The-Dream, back in 2011. At that time, Kim stated that the release was for charity and confirmed she wouldn’t be putting out a full album.
During her August 2014 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Kim expressed regret over her musical endeavors.
“It’s definitely a memory and it was a fun experience. We donated the proceeds to a cancer charity,” she stated. “But if there’s one thing in life that I wish I hadn’t done… it’s that I don’t like when people dabble in areas they shouldn’t. I don’t believe I should have tried singing. What made me think I could be a singer? I don’t have a great voice.”
In addition to her musical comeback, Kim is making notable strides in Hollywood this year. She is currently working on a new legal drama created by Ryan Murphy for Hulu. All’s Fair, featuring an impressive cast that includes Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash, Glenn Close, and others, is set to premiere in 2025. Furthermore, Kim will both star in and produce a comedy for Netflix titled The Fifth Wheel.
“It’s incredible,” praised Paulson when sharing her thoughts on Kim’s work ethic in an interview with Variety in November. “She’s very present. She’s enjoyable, open to experiences, and truly engaged in the moment. She’s fantastic.”
