Linda Blair Speaks Out Following Reported Home Raid
The Exorcist actress Linda Blair has spoken out following reports that her property was raided by 70 law enforcement officials.
“I wanted to update everyone because we had an unexpected visit,” Blair, 67, stated in a video posted on Instagram on Friday, July 31. “It turns out they just needed to check some paperwork and diagrams. As you all know, I’ve been trying to relocate for the past two years for my health and to better assist animals.”
TMZ reported earlier on Friday that around 70 officers and animal control officials had an investigative warrant to search her property for possible violations and to assess the number of animals she keeps. According to the report, Blair holds a permit for 60 dogs, however, authorities discovered 200 dogs on her property. None of the animals were removed immediately.
Blair emphasized that she is doing well.
“I’m okay [and] the animals are okay,” Blair declared in her Friday update. “We simply have some paperwork to sort out, and that’s all this was about. I wonder why mail isn’t used more frequently to inform someone, just saying.”
In 2003, Blair established the Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating abused, neglected, or abandoned animals.
“With everyone so busy in animal rescue and saving lives from hot deserts and shelters, our emails and social media are flooded!” Blair stated in her post. “It turns out we just have some paperwork and diagrams to handle, but as everyone knows, I’m looking to move so I can provide more education and assist more animals. Let’s move forward. I always say a traditional letter would work wonders. Stay safe; support animal rescue because we’re all striving to save lives.”
Throughout her successful Hollywood career, Blair has persistently dedicated herself to helping animals in need.
“I began rescuing in 1997 [and promoting] animal welfare since 1984,” Blair shared on Instagram late last month. “I am directly involved in my foundation. I am the primary rescuer, offering preventative care, healing, training, and matchmaking for potential adopters.”
She emphasized at that time, “We face a pet overpopulation crisis! … We need assistance with this $5000-plus bill to have all those dogs spayed, neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. Your help would be greatly appreciated!”
