Meryl Streep and Martin Short Tie the Knot in Nostalgic OMITB Behind-the-Scenes Photos

Only Murders in the Building shared nostalgic photos of Meryl Streep and Martin Short dressed in wedding attire from the season 4 finale.
“#BehindTheScenes of shooting the wedding scene in episode 410. New York City, May 2024. 🩷,” the official account of the Hulu series posted alongside a series of images shared via Instagram on Friday, December 20.
The initial photo showcased Streep, 75, and Short, 74, posing in front of a floral arch adorned with white and pink roses in the courtyard of the iconic Arconia building. Streep looked breathtaking in a cream long-sleeved gown that featured floral details. Short looked sharp in a lavender suit, along with a cream vest, a matching tie, and a scarf.
The duo stood closely together, arms wrapped around each other, smiling for the photograph. The post also included snapshots of additional floral arrangements from the scene, an enormous wedding cake, and the show’s beloved dog Winnie, who is owned by Short’s character.
Numerous fans of the crime comedy rushed to the comments section, playfully suggesting that Streep and Short, who have been rumored to be dating off-screen, resembled a real couple.
“You could have [told] me Meryl and Martin got married, I would have believed it,” one user commented, while another added, “What do you mean behind the scenes, I’m convinced this actually happened 🥹🤍✨.”
Short has been portraying Oliver in Only Murders in the Building alongside Steve Martin (who plays Charles) and Selena Gomez (who portrays Mabel) since the series debuted in 2021. Streep joined the cast in season 3 as Loretta, an actress and Oliver’s love interest. In season 4, Loretta and Oliver got engaged, culminating in their wedding during the season finale.
While the couple’s nuptials were joyous, Loretta and Oliver’s future remains uncertain. In the finale, Loretta revealed she must depart for New Zealand shortly after the wedding to film her show. Oliver insisted they could make the distance work while he stays at the Arconia with Charles and Mabel. The trio finds themselves entangled in another murder mystery as the Arconia’s doorman, Lester (Teddy Coluca), was discovered lifeless in the fountain following Oliver’s wedding.
Shortly after the premiere of season 4, Only Murders in the Building was renewed for a fifth season. Short, Martin, and Gomez are anticipated to return, though there have been no further casting announcements as of yet.
