Michelle Pfeiffer Declares She Has ‘No Desire’ to Make Another Movie
Michelle Pfeiffer made an unexpected remark regarding her future in the film industry following a series of recent television roles.
“I never want to star in another movie, I swear to God,” Pfeiffer, 68, mentioned during an Apple TV panel on Sunday, August 2, as she reflected on her work in Margo’s Got Money Troubles and The Madison. “I only want to do ensemble pieces. It’s so much more enjoyable, I absolutely love it.”
The actress provided further insights into her experience working on Margo’s Got Money Troubles, which premiered in April and also stars Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman.
“I’ve been truly amazed by the female performances on television; they are really taking ownership of the medium,” she exclaimed, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Pfeiffer elaborated: “I love how complex and flawed all these characters are, and it brings to mind that well-known Robin Williams quote: ‘Remember that everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about, and be kind.’ For me, that encapsulates the show and its message, and I’m really proud to be a part of it.”
Alongside Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Pfeiffer has taken on a leading role in Taylor Sheridan‘s The Madison.
This series, which debuted in March, follows the Clyburn family from New York City as they “relocate to the Madison River valley of southwest Montana for emotional recovery following a tragedy that shattered the family,” according to the synopsis. (A second season was filmed before the show was released on Paramount+.)
Pfeiffer stars in the series alongside Kurt Russell, Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Matthew Fox, Beau Garrett, Amiah Miller, Ben Schnetzer and Kevin Zegers.
Rebecca Spence, Alaina Pollack and Danielle Vasinova complete the cast.
“I committed to it without even having read anything,” Pfeiffer told Entertainment Tonight in March. “It was really just him explaining the character’s scope and the overall outline of where it was going.”
Pfeiffer, who portrays Stacy, was initially hesitant about joining the project.
“I said, ‘Well, I’d really love to read something.’ And [Taylor] replied, ‘No, I prefer to cast first and then I write,’” she stated. “I said, ‘Well, I’d really like to read something before I commit.’”
She added: “We went back and forth like that for a few weeks, and I eventually realized I wasn’t going to win this argument and I had to either commit or walk away.”
