Off Campus Stars Mika Abdalla and Jake Short Call Off Engagement

Off Campus breakout star Mika Abdalla and Jake Short have officially ended their engagement.

“In light of the recent attention towards Mika’s personal life, it feels necessary to clarify that she and Jake are no longer together,” a representative for Abdalla shared exclusively with Us Weekly. “They continue to support one another and maintain a friendly relationship, and kindly request privacy and respect.”

The couple first crossed paths on the set of Sex Appeal in 2021 and began dating shortly after. Their engagement was announced on Instagram four years later.

After the successful premiere of Prime Video’s Off Campus, Abdalla, who portrays Allie, is now focused on the filming of the second season. Based on Elle Kennedy‘s book The Score, the upcoming season will center around Allie and Dean’s (Stephen Kalyn) love story.

The cast of Off Campus, much like their fictional characters, has seen success in their personal dating lives. Based on the Off Campus book series by Elle Kennedy, the show, which debuted in May 2026, follows an elite ice hockey team—and the women in their lives—as they navigate love and heartbreak.

“Although we tease Dean and Allie quite early on, there’s still a longing for more,” Abdalla told Us in May. “That’s something I’m really looking forward to. You just want to see more.”

Abdalla noted that the show aims to “stay true to a lot” of Allie and Dean’s romantic journey.

“Allie and Hannah’s storylines are interconnected, making it logical to explore that further this season,” she said, highlighting the extended focus on Allie and Dean throughout the first season. “All the books build off of each other and are interlinked. It wouldn’t make sense to exclude certain aspects from the other books this season.”

Looking forward, Abdalla expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to delve deeper into the fictional couple’s relationship.

“I’m eager to explore who Allie and Dean really are. They both present certain fronts that are challenging to penetrate. They often embody stereotypes of themselves, if that makes sense,” she shared with Us. “However, the books reveal so much depth beneath the surface of both Dean and Allie.”

Abdalla continued, “When our season arrives, I’m excited for the chance to delve deeper emotionally. We see Allie and Dean primarily in their superficial forms during season 1. While that aspect is enjoyable, and they’re fun characters to portray, both of us are personally looking forward to getting into the psychological layers.”
