Report: Whitney Purvis from 16 and Pregnant Skips Son Weston’s Funeral
16 and Pregnant alum Whitney Purvis reportedly missed her son Weston Jr.’s funeral on Saturday, June 14.
According to a TMZ report published on Tuesday, June 17, Purvis, 33, was turned away after allegedly arriving late for the service at a Georgia funeral home. The outlet cited a source close to the former MTV star, claiming Purvis was informed that the service would begin at 4 p.m. local time. However, she arrived to find that the funeral had commenced at 2 p.m. and that she was not on the guest list.
In contrast, Weston Jr.’s father, Weston Gosa Sr., told TMZ that he had personally invited Purvis and made it clear that a viewing would occur from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., followed by the service at 4 p.m.
According to Gosa, Purvis arrived at the venue after 4:15 p.m., by which time the funeral was already in progress. He noted that members of Purvis’s family, including her mother, were present for the service.

Purvis announced her son’s passing at the age of 16 on Facebook on June 2.
“This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston has passed away,” she shared alongside several photos of them together. “He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just don’t understand. Oh, my baby is gone and I don’t know how to cope. He was so perfect. This is truly my worst nightmare come true. How does one continue living after losing a child? I am in disbelief; this cannot be real. I would do anything just to hold him. Words fail to convey the pain I am feeling.”
She addressed her son directly, saying, “I love you so much, Weston Owen Gosa. God, I love you so much. You are my heart. I was so proud of the young man you were becoming. I just can’t move on without you. Rest in Peace, my angel. You left us too soon. April 2, 2009 – June 2, 2025.”
In a follow-up post, Whitney added, “Rest in Peace, my baby Weston. I love you forever, precious. I will never comprehend why life has to be so cruel. You will always be my baby.”
Weston Jr. was born in April 2009 during the first season of MTV’s 16 and Pregnant. Since the show’s airing, Purvis has lost custody of her sons Weston Jr. and River.
Amy Gosa, Gosa’s wife and Weston Jr.’s stepmother, shared on Facebook earlier this month that the family “tried to wake” Weston at 7 a.m. on June 2, but he was “not breathing.”
“We attempted CPR and called for an ambulance. The paramedics continued efforts and transported him to the hospital in Gordon County, where he was pronounced dead,” Amy wrote. “He faced several health challenges, including diabetes. We are utterly heartbroken and in shock. It was completely unexpected.”
