Sean Lowe Reunites His Kids with Their Rehomed Family Dog, Gus
Sean Lowe is enjoying some quality time with his children and their newly rehomed dog, Gus.
The Bachelor alum, aged 41, took to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, June 18, to share clips of Samuel, 9, Isaiah, 7, and Mia, 5, getting reacquainted with the Bullmastiff. In 2023, Lowe and his wife, Catherine Giudici, made the tough decision to rehome Gus after he injured Samuel.
“Today is one of our favorite days,” Lowe remarked in a video recorded while driving. “What are we doing?”
“Seeing Gus!” his children cheerfully responded.
Other videos captured Lowe and his family petting and playing with the dog at The Collar Club Academy, a dog training facility near Dallas, Texas.
Two years prior, Lowe had shared on Instagram that he and Giudici, 39, had made the difficult choice to find Gus a new home.
“You all know how much I loved that dog, and he was such a wonderful companion,” the former reality star stated in April 2023. “He was great with the kids, well-trained, and full of love. Unfortunately, he had a few instances of resource guarding, particularly when he snapped at Mia. We did everything possible to prevent it from happening again, but one night, several weeks ago, [our son] Samuel reached down to pet Gus, and Gus bit him on the side of the head.”
“The outcome was a trip to the E.R. and a staple in his head. As much as I care for that dog, my children come first,” Lowe declared.
The family has faced challenges with pets. In January 2025, they adopted Moose, a rescue boxer, but just two months later, Lowe was taken to the emergency room following an incident with the dog. attack.
“My first thought was, ‘I think that dog may have nicked an artery,’” Lowe recounted in a March Instagram video. “We have the video, which is far too graphic, so I won’t share it, but you can hear me saying, ‘This is serious. You need to get me to a hospital. Call Catherine.’ Thankfully, my friends were there to rush me to the E.R.”
Following the attack, Lowe realized he couldn’t keep Moose around the kids. He mentioned contacting animal control and the adoption agency for guidance on the next steps.
In an April Instagram update, Lowe informed his followers that he was “healing,” and the scars on his wrist were not as severe as he had anticipated.
Lowe has expressed optimism about his psychological recovery but acknowledged that the experiences have “taken a toll” on Giudici, 39.
“I’m incredibly thankful it was me and not my kids or my wife, and that I emerged relatively unscathed,” he reflected on the March incident. “Sure, I have scarred arms now, but I can live with that.”
