Ginny and Georgia’s Paul: Georgia’s Story Will ‘Evolve’ After Baby Surprise

Although Georgia and Paul concluded their marriage before season 4, their narrative on Ginny & Georgia is far from finished—especially given the pregnancy love triangle twist.

In the third season, which debuted on Thursday, June 5, Georgia (Brianne Howey) and Paul (Scott Porter) part ways after she deceived him about her violent history and feigned a pregnancy to keep him around. Ironically, by the end of the season, Georgia discovers that she is genuinely pregnant but is uncertain whether Paul or Joe (Raymond Ablack) is the father.

In an exclusive conversation with Us Weekly, Porter, 45, confirmed that Georgia and Paul’s journey will carry on into season 4. He stated, “Yes. [Her ex] Gil is going to prison for good now. [Georgia’s son] Austin is still there, and I believe Paul and Austin share a very unique bond.”

Porter expressed his eagerness to see how the former couple adapts to their new reality.

It’s fortunate that Ginny & Georgia has already been renewed for season 4, as the pregnancy twist—and the ensuing paternity drama—is just beginning. The popular Netflix show, which premiered in 2021, follows a young single mother, Georgia (Brianne Howey), who relocates her family to Wellsbury, Massachusetts, after escaping […]

“I cherish that relationship and would love to see it grow. I believe Paul wants to stay involved in Austin’s life—even if he isn’t completely integrated into the family. Georgia remains a powerful figure in Wellsbury, so their paths will cross, and she will certainly be part of the ongoing events,” he hinted. “Therefore, Paul will have to confront her.”

Season 3 of the acclaimed Netflix series showcased Paul’s betrayal when he uncovered the extent of Georgia’s deceit. This led to a confrontation, during which Paul hit the wall above Georgia’s head, triggering her PTSD stemming from previous abusive relationships.

“The most heartbreaking line from Paul in that scene is, ‘If you just would’ve told me, I could have protected us.’ He expresses his frustration, saying, ‘I could have protected us, but you never told me.’ He’s very reluctant to use his family’s influence at all. He prefers to handle things independently. You saw this during the wedding and the lawyer’s fees that he paid out of his own pocket. He ends up financially strained this season, trying to safeguard Georgia. But it’s impossible to guard against surprises,” Porter explained. “He would have handled Georgia’s truth differently had she been honest, and perhaps he could have sought help from his family to address the situation. However, her hesitation to confide in him prevented him from shielding her.”

Porter continued: “Viewers are upset because he abandons her during her lowest point, and I completely understand that. The engagement and marriage in the show occur at lightning speed. Their relationship has been based on deception. Yet, he never anticipated that the core issue would be something so deeply personal. It was about their present together, and he found he could no longer manage it.”

While Georgia and Paul’s relationship ended contentiously, there is a possibility for reconciliation. “Perhaps we can revisit that lighthearted wit and banter that they once shared without the heaviness,” he suggested. “It would be exciting to explore this dynamic in season 4. They’re definitely not out of each other’s lives for good.”

Porter added: “I’m just as uncertain about the identity of the baby’s father as anyone else. I have no insider knowledge regarding season 4, but I do believe the dynamic between Paul and Georgia will continue.”

It’s been an emotional roller-coaster. From Riverdale‘s Cheryl and Toni to Nancy Drew‘s Nancy and Ace, fans have witnessed their favorite couples suffer through some heart-wrenching breakups. Riverdale, which started in 2017, first introduced Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) as a grieving sister coping with the loss of her twin brother Jason (Trevor Stines). After striking […]

There’s still the pregnancy reveal to discuss. According to Porter, the cast “didn’t even know about the” surprise until the table read.

“We were going through the script, and at the very end, there was an addendum with her drinking the milk. The line, ‘Mom, you only drink milk when you’re pregnant’ wasn’t in the original script. That was a last-minute addition,” Porter disclosed to Us. “Even until the very end, we weren’t entirely aware of what it all entailed. That’s just the nature of the show. We kept everything tightly under wraps, so I know nothing about what’s next.”

Porter does harbor a wishlist, particularly for scenes featuring Ablack.

“My favorite moments from season 3 occurred at Blue Farm and featured both Joe and Zion. Joe and Paul shared a unique bond this season, where the two don’t fully grasp everything each is embroiled in regarding Georgia,” he revealed. “They’re familiar with one another, but not on a deeper level. It’s akin to opening up to a stranger while on vacation about aspects of your life you’d never disclose to friends back home. Paul converses with Joe in that way, and I find it wonderful.”

Ginny & Georgia is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
