Polyfamily, debuting on Tuesday, April 29, follows two married couples—Sean and Taya, along with Tyler and Alysia—who have chosen to form connections with each other’s partners as well. Sean is in a relationship with Alysia, while Taya is dating Tyler.
Even though the couples cherish their arrangement, the complexities of their quad relationship do create some friction among the two men and women involved.
“Alysia and I share the most intricate relationship of any I’ve experienced,” Taya mentioned in Us’ sneak peek of the premiere episode. “I truly adore Alysia; she feels like a sister to me, and I’ll always stand up for her. However, we do have our disagreements. There are moments when her heightened sensitivity and emotional nature compel me to pause and think carefully before I respond, as it helps maintain harmony in our household.”
Alysia mirrored Taya’s sentiments, emphasizing their need to “focus intensely on communication rather than suppressing feelings.”
“We’ve come to realize that addressing issues promptly prevents them from escalating into larger conflicts,” she shared.
The clip shows the two women enjoying a manicure together while sharing insights about their family structure.
“Is it a boy or a girl?” the manicurist inquired, referencing Taya’s baby bump. Taya revealed that they’re expecting “a boy,” making it their “fifth [child] at home.”
Alysia chimed in, noting they would have “four boys and one girl.”

“Wow, what a big family!” the manicurist remarked while both women responded enthusiastically, “Yes, it is.”
Alysia and Taya proceeded to discuss their nocturnal arrangements, revealing that they take turns with both men.
“I’m spending the night with Sean, you’re with Tyler,” Alysia clarified. “So on Tuesday, who will you be with?”
Before Taya could respond, a producer interjected, asking, “Have you ever found yourself longing to be with your other partner for a night?”
Alysia acknowledged that she has experienced that feeling, sharing that when she’s “in a disagreement with one,” she prefers not to share a bed with them.
“However, it’s my night and also Taya’s and the other’s night,” she explained. “If there’s tension between two of us, it’s acceptable to sleep separately. We’ve agreed that if someone doesn’t wish to sleep next to a partner, they can go to the couch. We should respect each other’s nights and relationships as they are distinct and deserve their own space.”
