Travis Kelce’s Comedic Perspective on Raising ‘Feral Kids’
Travis Kelce acknowledged that he may not be the best source for parenting tips, yet he hasn’t let that hold him back.
In a special episode of “New Heights” released on Thursday, April 24, through Wondery+, Travis, 35, and his brother, Jason Kelce, took to their fan hotline to field questions about parenting.
“Don’t forget that there’s only one parent here,” Travis joked at the start of the episode.
Jason, 37, has ample experience after recently welcoming his fourth daughter with wife Kylie Kelce. Both brothers attempted to assist a caller who said her three children were “completely feral.”
“What can I do to prevent them from harming themselves and each other?” the concerned fan asked, noting she suspected the Kelce brothers were just as energetic as kids.
Travis recognized that the caller’s situation was a “tough one” and offered his thoughts. “You need to find a way to discipline them so they’re cautious about actions that will get them in trouble,” the tight end advised.
Jason concurred, suggesting the caller remove any “sharp corners” in their house. “You need to baby-proof this place for your older kids,” he added.
However, regarding parenting three kids, Travis noted there are inevitably “certain things you just have to accept.”
“They’re just gonna f***ing try to have fun, you know?” he elaborated. “I remember one day when Jason and I had the house to ourselves for maybe 10 minutes, and we started wrestling. Jason powerbombed me into the couch, then hit me with an elbow… and we went right through the f***ing living room floor. We broke the hardwood and just moved the couch over it.”
Jason noted that there are moments when “there’s nothing you can do as a parent” except allow kids to learn from their own mistakes. “Lean into it,” he advised. “The more they f*** themselves up, the more they’ll learn to avoid idiotic behavior. Or maybe they won’t.”
Travis — without any prompting — recounted another one of his “wild and crazy” childhood escapades. “I remember jumping off garages onto trampolines only to end up in bushes because I couldn’t stop myself from bouncing,” he shared. “Kids are just going to act foolish.”
Switching gears, the brothers tackled another chaotic inquiry from a listener who reported her daughter was “stealing other people’s snacks” and even tucking “gummy worms in her underwear.”
The siblings were at a loss. “I’d say you’re on your own,” Travis said. “I have no f***ing idea how to handle that.”
