West Wilson Talks About the Viral Video Covering the Summer House Scandal
West Wilson is opening up about the viral whiteboard video that explains his Summer House scandal with Amanda Batula.
“I did it somewhat reluctantly,” West, 31, shared during the June 27 episode of his “Show Me Something” podcast. “I’ve been doing these for about three years, so we — I know this sounds silly — talked for a long time before recording.”
West mentioned that The Broadcast Boys (influencers Lucas Brody and Nelson Vergara) “couldn’t bypass” the drama due to their previous whiteboard videos featuring the Summer House cast.
“We’ve made fun of so many different people on various shows that we had to cover Summer House, and I had to take my share of the ridicule,” he explained. “Essentially, I just showed up and let them roast me. We recorded for two hours, and it ended up as a roughly 25-minute cut.”
The two-part analysis of West and Amanda’s Summer House situation went live on Instagram on June 24. At one point, Lucas asked West whether he “got Amanda’s approval” to film the whiteboard video.
“Yeah,” West replied. Lucas then inquired, “And she was worried?”
West responded, “Yeah, dude.”
West and Amanda, 34, confirmed their romantic relationship in late March. Previously, Amanda was married to Summer House co-star Kyle Cooke, while West dated Amanda’s best friend Ciara Miller.
The couple has faced significant public scrutiny regarding their relationship, particularly after the events of the season 10 reunion, which concluded earlier this month.
Us Weekly reported earlier this month that West would not be returning to Summer House amid the ongoing drama.
“West isn’t coming back,” a source informed Us. “He might still make an appearance on Summer House or In the City in the future, especially if things with Amanda develop, but he’s not part of the cast this season.”
West initially discussed his exit from the show during Wednesday’s whiteboard video.
“In [Bravo’s] defense, I don’t think it would have been an enjoyable summer,” he said. (An insider later told Us that the decision was mutual between West and the network.)
West elaborated on his choice to leave Summer House during a recent episode of his podcast.
“It’s been a crazy journey. It was amusing, but we did what we had to do,” he mentioned, reflecting on his departure and the recording of the whiteboard video. “We’re taking a break. I’m not filming this summer, which I believe is ultimately the best decision for everyone.”
West added, “Everyone can take a breather. It wouldn’t have been a fun summer for anyone involved.”
