Which NBC TV Shows Have Been Canceled? Includes Law and Order Spinoff and Hunting Party

NBC has made the difficult decision to cancel several popular shows—among them a Law & Order spinoff and various daytime programs.

The network surprised viewers in May 2025 by axing Lopez vs. Lopez, Night Court, Found, The Irrational, and Suits LA. While NBC later renewed The Hunting Party and Brilliant Minds, those were the only new shows to make the cut, with Grosse Pointe Garden Society falling short after being on the bubble.

This round of cancellations comes in the wake of NBC’s 11-year agreement with the NBA, a deal valued at approximately $2.5 billion annually, enabling NBC to broadcast up to 100 regular-season games and impacting the volume of original programming coming this fall.

In the 2025-2026 TV season, NBC introduced several new shows, but significant cancellations ensued, beginning with Law & Order: Organized Crime. Chris Meloni originally reprised his role as Elliot Stabler in this spinoff after departing from Law & Order: SVU.

Law & Order: Organized Crime, which debuted in 2021, experienced numerous leadership changes as Matt Olmstead was the original showrunner but stepped down later that year. He was succeeded by Ilene Chaiken, who stayed for one season before Barry O’Brien took over.

Bryan Goluboff assumed the showrunner role for season 3 but left after three months. He was followed by Sean Jablonski, who also departed due to “creative differences,” leading to David Graziano taking the reins for the season’s final episodes.

NBC renewed the series for its fourth season with John Shiban as showrunner. However, he exited during the production of season five, marking the sixth showrunner change throughout the show’s five-season run. In April 2026, NBC officially confirmed the show’s cancellation.
