Reese Witherspoon and Son Deacon Phillippe Grace the Elle Premiere Together
Reese Witherspoon turned the world premiere of Elle into a family event!
The Oscar-winning actress, aged 50, attended the red carpet on Tuesday, June 23, alongside her son, Deacon Phillippe, at the New York City premiere of her new Legally Blonde prequel series.
Witherspoon, who has a son Deacon, 22, and a daughter Ava, 26, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, dazzled in a pink gown featuring lace floral details. Deacon looked sharp in a black suit, complementing his mom with a pink tie.
Following in the footsteps of his parents, Deacon has ventured into acting himself, recently appearing alongside Ryan, 51, in the upcoming coming-of-age drama Motorheads, set to air on Amazon Prime Video in 2025.
“It’s such a unique experience to work together on a show with such talented people,” Ryan revealed exclusively to Us Weekly in May 2025. “We were both aware of the special nature of the situation.”
“There were moments when we would glance at each other and think, ‘Can you believe we’re actually doing this?’” he added.
Costar Nathalie Kelly shared with Us, “[Deacon is] the most charming, polite, and thoughtful young man I’ve ever encountered.”
“I’m amazed! If this is how the new generation of men is emerging, then I feel hopeful about the future,” she said. “What an incredible young man.”
“I think it was [Deacon’s] first significant acting role, and it was heartwarming to witness the father-son bond and Ryan’s pride,” Kelley commented. “Ryan was navigating how much to interfere while letting Deacon explore his own process. I learned a lot by observing Ryan as a father.”
Reese and Ryan began dating in 1997, co-starring in Cruel Intentions. They married in 1999 but announced their separation in 2006, finalizing their divorce a year later.
Despite their split, a source exclusively told Us in April that the former couple remains on good terms. Both attended Deacon’s graduation from New York University last month.
“She maintains a close relationship with Ryan,” the insider said. “They’ve been co-parenting effectively over the years and are friends.”
“Since her divorce from Ryan, she has been very supportive of her kids entering the entertainment industry,” the source added. “They both back whatever their children choose to do.”
Witherspoon serves as an executive producer on Elle, which explores her Legally Blonde character, Elle Woods, during her high school days. The series is set to premiere on Prime Video on July 1.
