Why Gabbriette Chose a Black Dress for Matty Healy’s Wedding
Gabbriette ensured that her wedding attire was as unique as her love for Matty Healy.
At 28, Gabbriette shared her thoughts with Vogue about her three bespoke wedding outfits ahead of her marriage to the singer on July 18. “I’ve always been drawn to designers like Matières Fécales that narrate stories through fabric,” the model revealed in an interview posted on Tuesday, July 21. “Their recent show was a complete narrative, and I felt they were just the right fit.”
First, Gabbriette focused on her pre-wedding gown, named “Leigh,” inspired by the musician’s admiration for Francis Ford Coppola’s rendition of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The “something old” Martin Margiela ensemble, taken from her own closet, showcased a black silhouette with white tulle peeking out from the back of her skirt and bordering her hem. This look included long sleeves and a fitted bodice.
“Is bridal always white? Clearly not,” Gabbriette remarked about her iconic outfit. “Bridal can be however you envision it. I’ve always loved black clothing, and it felt entirely right to repurpose this cherished dress.”
Regarding her ceremony gown, Gabbriette affectionately referred to it as “Gabriella.” The exquisite white dress showcased a pleated bodice and a whimsical skirt that flowed into an elongated train. She completed the look with a veil and Christian Louboutin heels.
“I feel like a princess,” she exclaimed about the outfit. “That was the aim.” Her mother, Chayo Bechtel, concurred, “It’s absolutely stunning.”
To end her bridal journey, Gabbriette donned a two-piece leather ensemble for her afterparty, which included a satin riding hat, flared pants, and a plunging jacket. She completed her look with another pair of red-bottomed shoes.
“This is when I’m going to step out [and say], ‘Time to party!’” Gabbriette declared about her outfit, ensuring she would have a glass of champagne ready. “Honestly, I see a touch of Nicole Kidman or Kylie Minogue in the vibe,” she noted.
Chayo also expressed what she was most eager to witness at the wedding. “Well, there are a few aspects,” she began. “First is seeing her in a princess-like dress. Second, witnessing my daughter marry her best friend. Lastly, it’s about celebrating this extraordinary event and pure love.”
Gabbriette was equally thrilled about marrying Healy, 37, with whom she’s been in a relationship since September 2023. “I’m incredibly excited about getting married—it’s been around eight months of preparation,” she revealed. “Sometimes I think we should have eloped, but it’s all good.”
