The musician previously informed her followers that it was her children’s last day with their feeding tubes, which extend through the nose to the stomach.

Earlier this year, Nelson’s daughters, whom she shares with ex-fiancé Zion Foster, were diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) type 1. This rare genetic disorder can weaken muscles and lead to challenges with swallowing and feeding. Symptoms typically appear within the first six months of life and include limited head control and reduced muscle tone, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

Nelson’s twins were born prematurely at 31 weeks, which necessitated a prolonged stay in a neonatal intensive care unit.

She has been candid about the emotional impact of her daughters’ diagnosis, revealing in July that she struggled to hold back tears upon seeing Story and Ocean in their spinal jackets.

“Imagine having to wear a spinal jacket and splints in this heat,” Nelson stated at the time, adding, “I can’t express how much this breaks my heart into a million pieces. But if I don’t put them in these daily, their spines and feet will only deteriorate and get worse.”

Nelson and Foster, 26, ended their relationship shortly after learning about their daughters’ health challenges. “We have experienced such a traumatic event, and our girls remain our primary focus,” Nelson told the Daily Mail in February.

She elaborated, “We want to ensure they have the most positive, happy, and encouraging environment, and because we’ve both dealt with such a traumatic experience, the energy wasn’t right between us, which is understandable.”

Regarding their dynamic post-breakup, Nelson mentioned, “We remain friends and united in co-parenting our daughters; they are our main concern, and our goal is to be the best parents we can be right now.”
