Kylie Jenner Shares What She Gave Up by Becoming a Young Mother
Kylie Jenner believes she has “absolutely” matured quickly and feels she has missed out on certain experiences by becoming a mother at a young age.
“COVID served as my college experience — a time when everything was closed and no one was working much,” Jenner, 29, stated in an interview with WhoWhatWear, released on Thursday, August 27. “It was the first instance I was able to slow down, and as the world began to feel safe again. For the first time in my life, I didn’t have a packed schedule. Sometimes, I feel like a robot where everything is organized for me: meetings on Wednesdays, and so on.”
She added, “But COVID gave me a college experience — having friends over constantly, always celebrating something, or just being together. I thought, ‘Wow, I never had that time without other external responsibilities — other than Stormi.’”
Jenner became a mother to her daughter, Stormi, in 2018 with her on-and-off romantic partner Travis Scott. They later welcomed a son, Aire, four years later. Jenner and Scott have since parted ways, and the Kardashians star is now dating boyfriend Timothée Chalamet.
“I made a vow to myself at 25 that I wouldn’t have any more children — at least for now — and truly enjoy the latter half of my 20s since the first half was all about being pregnant, followed by a year of recovery, and dealing with my mental health, postpartum depression, and everything else,” she shared. “It felt as though I lost some of those youthful years.”
Throughout the interview, the reporter observed that Jenner mentioned being “almost 30” numerous times — possibly indicating she’s eager to embark on a new decade. When asked if there’s anything she feels she should leave behind or if she has changed her views, Jenner answered, “I think having an enormous life.”
“I’ve shifted my perspective on that,” she clarified. “When I was younger, I was thrilled and decided to get the most extravagant house I could find in Beverly Hills, and I just went for it. I’ve come to realize that my life became too large, and I thought, ‘Yeah, never mind.’ I think I lost a bit of control over my life during that time.”
In another part of the conversation, Jenner expressed feeling like “the clock is ticking” even though she feels “still so young.”
“So you’re trying… I’m trying… I don’t want to look back on my life and think, ‘There are things I wish I had done when I was younger.’ Even though I already have children at such a young age, I feel I’ve lived a very adult life early on, and I’m striving to ensure I don’t have regrets and to take bold actions and seize more opportunities or make the most of what I have,” she expressed.
She continued, “Kim [Kardashian] inspires me in this respect because she pursues many things that excite but also scare her. It’s remarkable to see her achieve and go after her dreams. I’m just aiming to do more things, pick a few each year, step outside my comfort zone, and go for it.”
