Carson Daly Prefers His Kids Not to Date Vegans
Carson Daly has a particular wish for his children when it comes to dating.
“The only hesitation I might have for my kids would be, like, [dating] a vegan or something like that perhaps,” Daly, 52, mentioned during the Monday, May 19, episode of Today With Jenna and Sheinelle.
After Daly’s remark, the behind-the-scenes team erupted in laughter.
“Is that inappropriate to say? Am I going to be canceled for that?” Daly questioned.
Cohost Jenna Bush Hager probed Daly and asked if he simply wanted his children’s future partners to enjoy meat. (Daly has four kids: Jackson, 17, Etta, 13, London, 11, and Goldie, 6, with wife Siri Pinter.)
“Yeah, I mean, look at me!” Daly replied before explaining his views on dietary preferences. “Food is, like, a really significant part of, like, our family dynamic.”
He continued, “Without food, I wouldn’t have much to discuss with my wife. It keeps us bonded. So if one of them brought home a date who was super picky, like, ‘I don’t eat anything — fish from the sea, cows that go moo.’ Like, I’ve got a Traeger [smoker], buddy.”
Daly also clarified that he doesn’t include individuals with food allergies in his disdain for picky eaters.
“I’m not the villain! I don’t wish sickness upon boyfriends!” he joked.
Daly shared that his concerns arise from the thought of his kids bringing over partners who can’t eat anything they prepare for family meals.
“I’m just saying it would be unfortunate if they came home on a Sunday when we were planning a big Daly feast, making pizzas, and they were like, ‘I can’t eat anything.’ I’d just think, ‘He’s a loser. Dump him,’” he expressed.
While Daly is currently free from concerns over his children dating a vegan, the morning show host is approaching a significant milestone with son Jackson, who will go to college next year. Daly jokingly mentioned wanting to find a place close to the school.
“I’m scouting for real estate near the university,” Daly teased recently. “Every time we pass LIU Post out on Long Island, I’m like, ‘Buddy, we’re getting a fantastic apartment here. I’ll be around. It’s going to be great.’ I’m envisioning going with him to college. The reality hasn’t hit yet.”
