Why Joy-Anna Duggar Found It Difficult to Conceal Her Pregnancy
Counting On alum Joy-Anna Duggar chose to keep her pregnancy announcement private for a little while, and she feels it was the right decision.
“Thank you all so much for your love regarding our pregnancy announcement,” Duggar, 28, shared on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, September 2. “We’re absolutely thrilled and can’t wait to meet our new addition.”
On Tuesday, September 1, Duggar and her husband, Austin Forsyth, officially revealed that they are expecting another child. The couple already has sons Gideon, 8, and Gunner, 2, in addition to their daughter Evelyn, 6. Tragically, Duggar experienced a stillbirth in 2019 and named her daughter Annabell.
“It’s definitely been difficult keeping the news under wraps because I feel that I show sooner with each pregnancy,” she mentioned on Wednesday. “However, having a little time to absorb this quietly as a family has been incredibly special.”
To unveil her pregnancy, Duggar enlisted Gideon and Evelyn to take some maternity photos in their living room. In the pictures, she cozied up to Forsyth, 32, while gazing at sonogram images.
“We spontaneously decided to have the kids take these photos for us,” the former TLC star noted in a subsequent post on Wednesday. “They turned out so adorable.”
Joy-Anna is one of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s 19 children and has received an outpouring of support from her siblings during this exciting time.
“I’m sooooo excited to meet this baby!!” Jinger Duggar commented, while sister-in-law Maddie Duggar added, “Sooooo excited to meet the baby!!!! You look incredible ♥️.”
Amidst nurturing her growing family, Joy-Anna continues to commemorate Annabell, who passed away at 20 weeks.
“That was incredibly tough. Initially, I was determined to be strong and push through,” Joy-Anna reflected on her loss during a recent episode of Jinger’s podcast. “But once the dust settled and a new normal had to emerge, it became exceptionally hard.”
She elaborated at the time, “I had to navigate through a lot of difficult emotions, and honestly, I wasn’t sure how to cope. I didn’t want to become bitter or unable to move forward; I wanted to work through my grief. It felt as if I’d never see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
The influencer noted that her grief began to lessen after six months.
“True joy comes from the Lord, and my children help bring glimpses of happiness during dark moments,” she reflected. “It’s incredibly challenging to find joy amid those difficult times.”
