For celebrity aesthetician Jess Bowers — who has collaborated with various notable stars including Pamela Anderson — simplicity is the key.
“My principle has always been ‘less is more’ when it comes to beauty,” she shares with Us.
The NYC-based facialist is celebrated for her swift, intuitive effects, calming irritated skin, and achieving a radiant glow. Her straightforward approach has garnered her a dedicated clientele looking for solutions to diverse skin challenges. Currently, the primary concern she is encountering? The eye region.
“The most common issues are dark circles, puffiness, and eye bags,” she notes, in addition to “sagging and fine lines.” Bowers believes her clients’ growing focus on the eye area is due to recent trends.
“For some time, the spotlight was on achieving ‘glass skin’ or perfecting overall skincare routines, but not enough emphasis on the eyes,” she elaborates. “Even if your complexion is luminous, discoloration, crepiness, or visible volume loss around the eyes can disrupt the effect.”
Interestingly, the age of her clients addressing these issues is getting younger.
“It used to be primarily those in their 30s and older. Now, I have clients in their early 20s inquiring about eye treatment options,” she observes. “I believe increased screen time contributes to this. Late-night scrolling can aggravate creasing from squinting and side sleeping.”
During her sessions focused on the eye area, Bowers employs a distinctive massage technique that utilizes an incredibly gentle touch to enhance circulation.
“I aim to boost blood flow in a way that simulates the circulatory boost experienced from an ice bath,” she explains. “Then, I add cryotherapy, which is the perfect finishing touch.”
If you cannot visit Bowers in her cozy skin speakeasy located in the West Village, don’t worry: she shared her straightforward daily tips with Us for keeping the delicate eye area hydrated, smooth, and rejuvenated all season long.
While skincare is vital, Bowers also swears by a selection of portable tools she keeps in her bag for a well-rested look. Check out her recommendations:
THINK BEYOND TOPICALS
Bowers encourages always consulting a doctor before starting new supplements, but she commends BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin for its powerful antioxidant properties that help bolster the skin’s defense against UV-induced oxidative damage.
INSTANT FIX
A must-have in her routine is the Adapt Cream from Pamela Anderson’s clean, vegan skincare line, Sonsie. She uses it on her entire face and neck, particularly enjoying the healthy, hydrated glow it imparts to her under-eyes.
POWER DUO
Men care about their under-eyes too! The expert suggests the Harry’s Cooling Eye Kit, which features a stick filled with beneficial aloe vera, seawater, and caffeine, along with a weighted zinc tool to rapidly alleviate puffiness.
FOR A MORE CONTOURED APPEARANCE
She employs Jillian Dempsey’s Gold Sculpting Bar “to gently de-puff and subtly sculpt the eye area before a significant event.”
BYE-BYE, TIRED EYES
Excess screen time and sun squinting? Bowers swears by Clarins Total Eye Lift, a sustainable option formulated with organic white horehound to help combat the adverse effects of blue light, and organic horse chestnut escin to target dark circles.
SLEEP SAVIOR
“One simple way to support the eye area is to switch to a silk pillowcase or silk eye mask,” she suggests. “For side sleepers, it can help minimize creasing around the eyes.” Consider Slip’s Pure Silk Pillowcase.
A CULT-FAVORITE
“They are the only under-eye masks that truly deliver,” she says of Goop Beauty’s Lift + Depuff Eye Masks. “I prefer to keep them in the fridge for an added cooling sensation.”
ORGANIC APPROACH
“Employ chilled eye compresses, like tea eye pads — it’s a straightforward, more natural method to help inflamed or tired-looking skin appear more revitalized,” suggests the NYC expert. (Her favorite is Baudelaire’s Eyes Tea.)
FRENCH PHARMACY FAVORITE
Bowers recommends Embryolisse’s Intense Lift Eye Cream for leaving the eye area soft and luminous, courtesy of evening primrose oil and organic chestnut blossom extract.
ON-THE-GO RESET
Summer trips can lead to a tired appearance, so she recommends bringing along True Botanicals’ stainless steel De-Puff Under Eye Roller. Its lightweight and compact design makes it ideal for quick massages that enhance the absorption of your favorite eye products.
BAG ESSENTIALS
A STYLISH SHIELD
Protect against prolonged screen exposure — or instantly conceal tired eyes — with blue-light-filtering glasses like Good In Bed’s KAI in Dark Tortoise.
EYE-OPENING HACK
Divert attention from fine lines and shadows by lifting and curling lashes with the Hermès Le Courbe-Cils Eyelash Curler.
FLAWLESS COVERAGE
Effortlessly mask dark circles, redness, and other blemishes with Dior Forever Skin Perfect, a water- and sweat-resistant foundation.
