Christian McCaffrey Expresses Guilt About Leaving Olivia Culpo with Their Baby
Christian McCaffrey is experiencing some dad guilt as the football preseason ramps up.
The San Francisco 49ers running back has been hard at work in training camp as he prepares for the NFL season, following the arrival of his daughter Colette Annalise with wife Olivia Culpo in July.
“I feel guilty at times,” McCaffrey, 29, shared during an interview with the NFL Network on Tuesday, August 5. “I’m catching some good sleep in the hotel while [Olivia’s] handling everything at home. I’m incredibly grateful for her and she’s doing an amazing job.”
He went on to say that Culpo, 33, has “been fantastic,” adding that their moms have also been lending a hand with baby Colette so he can “focus on training and prioritize football.”
Culpo and Colette have been able to attend a few of McCaffrey’s practices, which he described as “incredible.”
“After practice, whether it’s been a good or bad day, seeing my daughter makes it all worthwhile. It’s truly special,” he remarked.
McCaffrey and Culpo tied the knot in June 2024 after five years of dating. The model, a former Miss Universe, has been a significant support for the 49ers star, showing off his number and team colors in stylish outfits at the games each week.
“You’re the hardest worker and have the biggest heart,” Culpo expressed on Instagram while celebrating their anniversary in June 2021. “Watching you put in so much effort every single day to achieve your dreams inspires me, and your authenticity makes me feel like the luckiest girl alive.”
Nowadays, Culpo has swapped her game day outfits for comfortable loungewear as she tends to her newborn.
“Mommy-daughter matching, diapers and all 🥳,” Culpo captioned a photo on Instagram on July 17 featuring the duo in matching robes.
Culpo has been candid about her postpartum recovery following a C-section, describing her birth experience as “the scariest and most rewarding” moment of her life, noting she felt “most at peace” with McCaffrey by her side.
She has also been sharing advice on staying hydrated and nourished during breastfeeding, posting a video via TikTok showcasing her bedside “caddies” stocked with everything from snacks and medicine to breast massagers and TV remotes.
“After a C-section, getting out of bed is a challenge… I couldn’t move from bed for a few days,” she explained. “Stairs were off-limits. It’s essential to have everything close at hand, and that can feel very overwhelming.”
On her nightstand, she even set up a mini fridge, breast pump, and a small bell to ring for help when needed.
“Seeing it reminds me of my mom every time,” she lamented with a sad expression.
