Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s Daughter, Opens Up About Her Journey as a NICU Mom (Exclusive)

Snoop Dogg‘s daughter, Cori Broadus, is sharing her journey as a NICU mom.

Over six months after welcoming her first child with fiancé Wayne Deuce, Broadus, 26, is highlighting her daughter Codi’s strength as she continues to be hospitalized after her premature birth.

“That girl is so feisty. She’s a true firecracker. Her resilience and strength are inspiring,” Broadus told Us Weekly while promoting the launch of Choc Factory at Thirteen Lune in Los Angeles. “The doctors and nurses tell me all the time, ‘Your baby is smart and alert. She knows what’s happening around her. The situation might not be what you expected, but it could have been worse.’ She is just a sweet little dynamo.”

Broadus announced Codi’s arrival in February, arriving three months earlier than expected. According to the Mayo Clinic, a baby born prior to 28 weeks gestation is classified as extremely preterm and may face various health challenges, including breathing difficulties, feeding issues, and trouble regulating body temperature.

While Broadus has kept many details about her motherhood journey private, she is opening up in support of NICU Awareness Month.

“The NICU experience is unique; you really have to be there to understand it. It’s not an easy place to spend time, but the support is incredible,” Broadus shared with Us, expressing gratitude to the medical staff caring for her daughter. “Sometimes, I visit [the NICU] and I can’t help but cry, and I apologize. The staff reassures me, saying, ‘Don’t apologize; this is normal. If you weren’t crying, we’d be worried. Just stay close and keep hope alive.’”

Maintaining hope is a daily goal for Broadus, no matter how challenging her days may be.

“This morning, I had an emotional moment because another baby, born after mine, got to go home today, and I broke down,” Broadus shared on Saturday, September 13. “I’m thrilled for them, but at the same time, it’s hard to see others going home while our baby remains here. But then I remind myself to have faith. Trust in God’s plan; everyone’s journey is different. She will come home; our path just looks a bit different.”

Broadus humorously noted that she’s “been through more than most,” having suffered a stroke at 24 and being diagnosed with lupus at just six years old.

Through all of life’s struggles, Broadus says her faith has helped her keep her spirits lifted and her fears at bay.

“What truly brought me closer to God was after my stroke,” she reflected to Us. “I promised Him, ‘If you help me through this, I will share Your story with the world, and He kept His promise to me.”

When she’s not at the NICU showering her daughter with love, Broadus is busy with Choc Factory, her self-care brand designed to celebrate natural beauty. From lip glosses to LED compact mirrors, the brand aims to inspire self-love and remind customers they are enough just as they are.

“Authenticity was my goal in creating this business,” Broadus explained. “This brand is a safe space where everyone feels they belong.”
