Do the Kansas City Chiefs Need Taylor Swift to Help Reignite Their Spark?

Dads, Brads, and Chads may need to reconsider their stance if they wish to see the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs.

The Chiefs have had a tumultuous season so far, currently with a record of 6-5 after a recent victory against the AFC South-leading Indianapolis Colts (8-3) at Arrowhead Stadium on November 23. Despite this win, the Chiefs remain on the fringes of the AFC playoff race.

Attending Sunday’s game was Taylor Swift, the fiancée of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, continuing an intriguing trend amidst the team’s average performance.

Swift, who became engaged to Kelce in August, has adopted a more low-key approach to her game appearances this season, often remaining out of the spotlight within her suite. Reportedly, she even concealed herself behind a moving wall during her entrance at Kansas City’s home opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 14.

However, there’s a catch: when the world’s biggest pop star does show up in person, the Chiefs typically deliver an impressive performance.

Swift, 35, has attended six games this season, all at Arrowhead, where the Chiefs boast a 5-1 record. In contrast, when she does not attend, Kansas City’s record drops to 1-4.

This raises a question: do the Kansas City Chiefs need Taylor Swift to reestablish her presence in Chiefs Kingdom for a turnaround in their season?

Swift was a significant catalyst for the Chiefs’ success after she and Kelce, 36, publicly shared their relationship, contributing to the team’s first four wins in games she attended during the 2023 season.

Overall, the Chiefs enjoyed a 10-3 record in games with Swift in attendance, including a thrilling 25-22 overtime victory against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

As the Chiefs entered Super Bowl defense in 2024, Swift proved to be another lucky charm.

She attended seven regular season games, all resulting in victories, and was also present for playoff wins against the Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills.

However, the winning streak concluded when the Chiefs faced a crushing defeat, losing to the Eagles 40-22 in Super Bowl LX.

Regardless, Swift maintains an impressive 24-5 record in Kansas City games she has attended.

During this time, her presence—often highlighted on TV broadcasts—sparked a discussion among football fans who were critical of quick glimpses of the pop star interrupting their game-watching.

Swift even responded to the criticism after being named Time magazine’s Person of the Year.

In the magazine feature, Swift mentioned that she is “sensitive to the attention” she receives at games but intends to remain unfazed.

“I’m just there to support Travis,” she stated. “I’m not aware if I’m shown too much and upsetting some dads, Brads, and Chads.”

With just seven games remaining in their 2025 season, the Chiefs must quickly address their performance issues. ESPN’s projection indicates a 44.6 percent chance they could miss the playoffs as they head into their matchup against the Colts.

Kansas City hasn’t missed the playoffs since 2014, which was Kelce’s first full year in the NFL.

If Chiefs fans want to keep that streak alive, they may need to see if Taylor Swift can make some time for them.
