Eric Dane’s Daughter Celebrates Middle School Graduation Following His Passing
Rebecca Gayheart and the late Eric Dane’s 14-year-old daughter, Georgia, completed her middle school journey just four months following the tragic passing of the Grey’s Anatomy star.
“Congratulations Georgia!!! You have graduated middle school and navigated an incredibly tough year,” Gayheart, 54, expressed via Instagram on Saturday, June 6, sharing snapshots from the milestone event. “I am so incredibly proud of you — your resilience, determination, and grace have truly shone through.”
She added, “Welcome to high school — I have no doubt you’re ready. I am so excited for you! Not shown is your MVP trophy for beach volleyball. Bravo, congratulations, and I love you so much ♥️.”
Dane’s former Grey’s Anatomy co-star Ellen Pompeo also extended her congratulations for Georgia in the comments section.
“Congratulations Georgia!!! Well Done,” Pompeo, 56, commented on Instagram. “Your mama’s words are so fitting!!!”
Besides Georgia, Gayheart and Dane are also parents to 16-year-old Billie. The Euphoria star passed away in February after a battle with ALS at the age of 53.
“I believe they would say, ‘I’m a reactive person.’ ‘My dad was a reactive person,’ which isn’t necessarily negative,” Dane mentioned in a posthumous Famous Last Words interview, envisioning what might be said at his children’s eulogy. “Some of their core memories involve me reacting to different situations. … I would say they would describe me as tough [and] resilient.”
He elaborated during the interview, “They would say I was loving, endearing, compassionate, empathetic, and trustworthy. I’m a good dad. We had some wonderful travels together. One time, we explored Europe, driving through the French countryside with the kids in this quirky little rented car.”
According to Dane, he hoped that Billie and Georgia would always remember his unwavering support.
“I think showing up is the most important quality,” the actor mentioned during the interview that aired shortly after his death. “I haven’t been perfect at it, but I’ve always been there when it counts. Although their mother and I are no longer a couple, we still remain best friends.”
Dane and Gayheart were married from 2004 to 2018, when the Jawbreakers actress filed for divorce. She later withdrew her petition in 2025 after Dane was diagnosed with ALS.
“Due to the distance and us living separately, a lot of time was lost,” Dane added in Famous Last Words. “I made sure to be present as much as possible — especially when it mattered. I’ve attended every one of Billie’s ballet recitals and many Nutcracker performances, which can be beautiful but honestly, they do drag on for three hours.”
