Former Bachelor and Bachelorette Winners: Catching Up on Their Lives Today

Although Matt chose not to propose to Rachael during the finale that aired in March 2021, they exited the show as a couple. However, the couple secretly ended their relationship in February 2021 after Rachael faced accusations of racism when old photos of her at a plantation-themed party resurfaced. She publicly apologized for her actions twice on Instagram before discussing the matter with Matt and guest host Emmanuel Acho during After the Final Rose.

“When he initially called to end things, I felt confused and blindsided,” Rachael shared on the special. “But after processing that reaction, I reflected on our relationship and realized how much I valued it. For him to end things, he must have felt deeply hurt by everything. It was challenging because I lost the love of my life,” she added.

After being seen together in April 2021, Matt and Rachael confirmed in May that they were giving their relationship another chance. The couple shared with Us in July 2023 that they have become accustomed to ongoing speculation about another breakup.

“We’ve been through so much that very little fazes us now. I understand the worries—since we spend a lot of time together, whenever our schedules don’t match or we have separate commitments, I get where people’s concerns come from,” Rachael explained.

Matt also noted that even his mother tends to worry about their relationship status.

“Whenever I come home without Rachael, my mom asks, ‘What’s wrong? Where’s Rachael?’” he shared with Us. “I have to remind her, ‘She went home to see her family!’ She has her mom, dad, brother, and sister in Atlanta.”

In January 2025, Matt announced that he and Rachael broke up after four years together.
