Freddie Freeman’s Touching Tribute to His Late Mother at Every Dodgers Game

Freddie Freeman has discovered a heartfelt method to pay tribute to his late mother, Rosemary Freeman, at every MLB game he participates in.

“Years ago, [his dad] Fred presented Freddie with a necklace featuring a cross that contains a lock of his mom’s hair,” revealed Freddie’s wife, Chelsea Freeman, in Fight for Glory: 2024 World Series. “Freddie never removes it, even when he’s on the field.”

In the latest docuseries on Apple TV+, available for streaming starting Friday, March 28, cameras captured the moments as Freddie, 35, and the Los Angeles Dodgers took on the New York Yankees in the 2024 World Series.

Before the Dodgers clinched the championship on October 30, 2024, Chelsea, 35, reminisced about a time when her husband’s cherished necklace needed some repairs.

Freddie and Chelsea tied the knot in November 2014 and are proud parents to three boys: Charlie, Brandon, and Maximus. The entire family relocated to California after Freddie signed a six-year, $162 million deal.

“It actually broke right before the World Series, and we had to overnight it to the jeweler,” she noted. “They returned it just in time for game one. We were adamant about getting it back ASAP.”

Rosemary lost her battle with melanoma at the age of 47 in June 2000 when her son was just 10 years old. Freddie not only commemorates his mother with his necklace but also by wearing long sleeves during games.

“[Rosemary was] so young when she left us,” Chelsea remembered in Fight for Glory. “He once told me one of his earliest memories was being at one of his little league games, with his mom out in the outfield. He hit a home run that almost struck her, and she was jumping up and down with joy.”

Chelsea, who shares Freddie Jr., 8, Brandon, 4, and Maximus, 4, with Freddie, feels that Rosemary was watching over them during the World Series when he hit multiple home runs.

“That’s going to make me emotional,” she expressed, “but I really believe she was celebrating in heaven when he hit his grand slam.”

One family member who witnessed Freddie’s entire journey with the Dodgers was his father, Fred. The proud dad enjoyed a front-row view as his son was named the 2024 World Series MVP.

After years filled with batting practice and preparation, Freddie felt immense gratitude in having his dad by his side to experience the unforgettable series.

“I wouldn’t be here without him,” he expressed to Fox Sports moments after becoming a World Series champion. “This is his moment. It’s so special to share it with him in this context. It truly means everything.”
