Garrett Yrigoyen from The Bachelorette and His Wife Alex Expecting Their First Child
Garrett Yrigoyen is set to become a father! The former Bachelorette contestant’s wife, Alex Yrigoyen, is expecting their first child, as confirmed exclusively by Us Weekly.
Alex revealed to Us that she discovered her pregnancy while Garrett, 35, was at work. “I spent a few days at home holding the secret,” she said. “I was cautiously optimistic, unsure if it was real.”
When Garrett returned from his firefighter shift, Alex surprised him with a romantic setup featuring “candles lit” to share the exciting news.
“I wrote a little card to tell him, and we were both over the moon,” Alex shared, explaining that they initially “kept it to ourselves for some time.”
Garrett, who gained fame on The Bachelorette in 2018, expressed his excitement upon learning he would be a dad. “I was instantly full of happiness. It hit me like a ton of bricks,” he beamed. “She rushed over, exclaiming, ‘Can you believe it?’ I was in disbelief, thinking how quickly this all happened.” (The couple disclosed that Alex learned of her pregnancy in the summer of 2024 and was 16 weeks along during their mid-December conversation with Us.)
The couple decided to wait until the holidays to inform their families. Garrett’s parents were the first to learn, receiving Christmas ornaments on Thanksgiving that revealed their grandchild is due in June 2025. They shared the joyful news with Alex’s family during their Christmas reunion in San Diego.
Although Garrett and Alex have had time to digest the news, they plan to keep the baby’s sex a surprise. “Life has few surprises left to give, so we’re waiting until delivery,” Garrett explained to Us.
Agreeing, Alex added, “We want that moment to be just for the two of us. So, we’ll wait until the baby arrives, regardless of whether it’s a boy or girl.”
Garrett shared that he’s indifferent about the baby’s sex, just hoping to have a little fishing companion. “I can’t wait to have a fishing buddy, boy or girl,” he said. “I look forward to adventures and traveling with them. I need someone to fish with!”
Garrett rose to fame after winning Bachelorette Becca Kufrin’s final rose during season 14 of the ABC series in 2018. The duo became engaged during the season finale, but their relationship ended in September 2020.
Meanwhile, Kufrin, 34, found happiness with Thomas Jacobs after meeting on season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise. They wed in October 2023, shortly after the arrival of their son, Benson.
Garrett began dating Alex in fall 2020, going public with their relationship in October and getting engaged two years later.
The couple exchanged vows in November 2023 on Oahu, Hawaii. “Forever till the end of time… what an unforgettable moment and a perfect day,” Garrett shared on Instagram that day. “I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful bride and now wife.”
One year later, as they prepare to start a family, the couple couldn’t be happier. “I can’t wait to see her in the role of a mother; it’ll be exciting for us together,” Garrett told Us. “She’ll pass on her smarts, athleticism, and adventurous spirit.”
Alex expressed her faith in Garrett as a dad, noting he’s been “talking about being a father for ages.” She said, “His excitement during our conversations reassures me he’ll be an incredible father.”
