Mandy Moore is lauding Hilary Duff — both as a mother and musician — following the drama surrounding Ashley Tisdale French’s “toxic” mom group allegations. “She’s such an incredible talent and mother,” Moore, 41, stated in a cover story for Glamour published on Tuesday, February 17. “Seeing the […]

The wave of love and support from Duff’s friends at her recent gig follows some earlier criticism from former mom group member Ashley Tisdale French.

Tisdale French, 41, made headlines in January after writing an essay for New York Magazine’s The Cut titled “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group.” In it, she claimed she was “left out of a couple of group hangs” and began to “feel frozen out.”

Ashley Tisdale French garnered attention earlier this month when she disclosed that she exited her “toxic” mom friend group nearly five years after connecting with the women over motherhood. “Here I was sitting alone one night after putting my daughter to bed, thinking, ‘Maybe I’m not cool enough?’” Ashley, who shares daughters Jupiter, 5, and Emerson, 22 months, with husband Christopher French, expressed.

Although she didn’t specify the identities of the women, fans quickly recognized that Tisdale French had been part of Duff’s celebrity mom group after they both welcomed children in 2021.

The High School Musical star shares daughters Jupiter, 5, and Emerson, 22 months, with her husband Christopher French. Duff, on the other hand, shares daughters Banks, 7, Mae, 5, and Townes, 2, with husband Matthew Koma, and a son, Luca, 14, with her ex-husband Mike Comrie.

“I honestly felt really sad. I was taken aback and just felt sad,” Duff mentioned during a February episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast when discussing the drama. “I have so many groups of friends. I’m so fortunate.”

That same month, Moore praised Duff for her enduring friendship after they became close following the arrival of her eldest child, son Gus, in 2021. (Moore also shares son Ozzie, 3, and daughter Lou, 21 months, with husband Taylor Goldsmith.)

“She’s such an incredible talent and mother,” Moore told Glamour of Duff in February. “Observing how she balances life is truly inspiring to me.”

While Duff and her remaining mom friends appear to have moved past the controversy, Tisdale French has been making headlines for collaborating with Sabrina Jalees and Ali Wong on a comedy series titled Toxic Moms.

Deadline reported that Toxic Moms is currently in development at Netflix.
