How Jessica Treska Connected with the Creator of Euphoria Through Faith

Jessica Treska will always remember her time filming Euphoria alongside creator Sam Levinson.

“Working with Sam was an absolute joy. I truly enjoyed it,” Treska, 23, shared exclusively with Us Weekly on Wednesday, June 3. “He’s not just an exceptional director and writer who collaborates well with the cast, he’s also a genuinely good person, and he treated me wonderfully.”

As they delved into scripts and the show’s direction, Treska noted that their bond deepened during conversations about their mutual faith.

“We connected over the significance of this role and the importance of God,” she reflected. “He expresses that on set and even at the premiere. It carries a lot of weight for him, as it does for me. Finding a director with whom you can share such beliefs, especially in this industry, is quite rare, particularly someone who creates impactful projects like this.”

In the third season of Euphoria, Treska portrayed Daisy Miller, a fictional religious character set apart from society. Daisy was introduced in the season 3 premiere as Rue (Zendaya) departed from the Miller family home.

Daisy later reappeared in the finale, where Ali (Colman Domingo) visited the farm after avenging Rue’s death by confronting her boss, Alamo Brown (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), in a dramatic showdown. Upon hearing about her friend’s demise, Daisy was noticeably affected and took part in a prayer for Rue.

With her character’s arc now complete, Treska hopes viewers can discover “a belief in something greater than yourself.”

“There’s something beyond this life that can truly elevate someone from their lowest point, just like Rue, and what she faces,” Treska stated. “It can liberate you from feelings of guilt, which I believe is one of the worst forms of suffering. Rue sought redemption, and her story is incredibly singular.”

While Treska would be “extremely honored” to collaborate with Levinson, 41, again, she looks forward to new acting prospects that lie ahead.

Rather than limit herself to a specific genre or character type, Treska is passionate about creating an “impact.”

“My primary requirement for a role is that it has depth,” she shared. “I want audiences to connect with any character I portray. Whether it’s a villain where you’ll see some humanity or a religious farm girl where you can sense my curiosity.”

Euphoria is currently available for streaming on HBO Max.
