Jack Osbourne and Wife Expecting Baby, Shared News with Ozzy Before His Passing

Jack Osbourne and his spouse, Aree Gearhart, are delighted to announce they are having their second child together — marking Jack’s fifth overall — and they managed to share this joyous news with Ozzy Osbourne before his passing in July.

The 40-year-old former star of Osbournes revealed in an interview with The Sun on Sunday that Ozzy learned he was going to become a grandfather over the summer. Jack expressed that his wife’s pregnancy has provided a much-needed sense of relief amid the grief that has enveloped their family following Ozzy’s death at the age of 76, stemming from a battle with Parkinson’s disease.

“It’s fantastic,” Jack shared with the publication. “I believe it serves as a healthy distraction and a source of healing – in a somewhat ‘full cycle’ way, if that makes sense.”

He continued, “It has significantly redirected my energy from grieving towards hopefulness. It’s been manageable for me, though I think it’s been much more challenging for my wife!”

This happy announcement came after Jack’s elimination from the British reality series I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, where he spent 20 days in the Australian jungles, finishing in sixth place overall.

“We’re incredibly excited about the baby,” he added. “It was somewhat planned, I should mention. It might have occurred a bit earlier than anticipated, but it’s definitely something we wanted, and somehow it came to be, remarkably.”

Jack has three daughters — Pearl Clementine, 13, Andy Rose, 10, and Minnie Theodora, 7 — from his previous marriage to Lisa Stelly, which ended in divorce in March 2019. He and Aree welcomed their first child together, Maple Artemis, three, in July 2022.

The Osbourne family felt profound sorrow when they announced in July that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Ozzy had passed away after a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s.

“With more sadness than mere words can convey, we must share that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” his family stated to Us Weekly at the time. “He was surrounded by family and love. We ask for respect of our family’s privacy during this time.”

In September, Jack discussed the heartache of losing his father during a YouTube vlog, revealing that he was at home in Los Angeles when he heard of Ozzy’s death in the U.K.

“I woke up in Los Angeles to a knock at my door around 3:45 in the morning. One of my family’s longtime employees was at my doorstep. The moment I saw him through the window, I knew something was terribly wrong,” he recounted.

After letting the employee in, Jack received the heartbreaking news that “my father had passed.”

“Immediately, I was engulfed in pain. Sadness and sorrow,” he reflected. “A flood of thoughts overwhelmed me. You cycle through feelings of sadness, frustration, and anger. … But there was also a sense of relief knowing he wasn’t suffering anymore, and that itself is something.”

Jack noticed a gradual decline in his father’s health over the years. Ozzy notably had to sit while performing at his last concert in Birmingham, England, in July, just three weeks before the legendary frontman’s passing.

“I wish he were still here with us, but he was enduring a tough time, and I believe the public witnessed that during the show,” Jack acknowledged.

While Jack was a contestant on I’m a Celebrity, his mother, Sharon, and sister, Kelly Osbourne, publicly commemorated what would have been Ozzy’s 77th birthday on December 3.

Alongside a montage of Ozzy’s memorable performances, Sharon expressed via Instagram: “My beloved husband, I celebrate the day you were born. I will never let go of your hand until I see you on the other side.”

Kelly shared her own tribute, stating: “Life without you is challenging, but not a day goes by that I don’t dedicate my life to loving you and honoring your legacy! I miss you more than anything else in the world. I love you until eternity! What I wouldn’t give to watch you blow out just one more candle.”
