James Jordan Responds to Concerns About Lioness Concluding After Season 3
James Jordan has shared his thoughts amid speculation regarding the future of Lioness beyond season 3.
“I truly hope we get renewed. I genuinely enjoy portraying this character,” said Jordan, 47, who plays Two Cups, in an exclusive conversation with Us. “Working alongside these amazing actors and wonderful individuals is a delight. It’s a joy to go to work with them.”
Jordan remains optimistic about the show’s continuation, expressing, “It’s always a pleasure to convey Taylor [Sheridan]’s narratives. He’s my favorite writer, both personally and professionally. There’s no one quite like him, and I relish the opportunity to bring these characters to life.”
He elaborated, “I hope we can create another season. As long as the audience keeps tuning in and people show up on Sunday nights asking, ‘What’s next? Where are we heading for the next battle?’ we will continue producing this show.”
This spy thriller, created by Sheridan, centers on the lead of a CIA unit who recruits female operatives— the Lionesses— to infiltrate in the ongoing war on terror.
The season 3 premiere shifted its focus away from introducing a new Lioness. Instead, the team concentrates on their mission with Joe (Zoe Saldaña) as a dual timeline unfolds throughout the season.
“It’s exciting because you witness these characters in action as operators — tactically — when they’re in QRF mode, kicking down doors and confronting the bad guys. We see another level of their skills,” Jordan remarked. “They are going undercover, navigating different personas while keeping an eye on our most critical mission — bringing Joe back.”
Jordan expressed his enthusiasm for fans to see how Lioness continues to evolve.
“In the first season, the action took us to the sea. The second season, it went airborne, and in the third season, the conflict returns home,” he teased. “The adversaries have arrived at her doorstep and taken one of our team members.”
He concluded, “And not just any team member, but our leader. The stakes are at an all-time high. Two Cups is prepared to do anything to rescue Joe.”
As a frequent collaborator with Sheridan, Jordan previously shared with Us his anticipation for the release of season 3 of Lioness.
“I simply can’t refuse him. He’s my favorite writer in the industry. I respect him immensely. He’s a mentor and a friend,” he expressed to Us. “No one puts in more effort than Taylor. He never compromises his vision. When someone approaches you and says, ‘Hey, I want to work with you on this project again,’ it’s a privilege. When someone works that hard and trusts in your abilities, you put in the effort for him.”
The actor appreciates the ongoing opportunity to collaborate with Sheridan.
“You want to get it right. You want to narrate the story the way he envisions it. I love working with him,” he added. “He truly is an exceptional individual.”
