Justin Bieber’s Grammy Boxers Might Have Been a Spontaneous Decision
Justin Bieber caught everyone off guard with his daringly minimal outfit during his performance at the 2026 Grammys.
In a recent episode of Rolling Stone’s “Music Now” podcast, the Grammys’ executive producer Ben Winston discussed Bieber’s unique stage presence. “I honestly think he didn’t finalize his outfit until he stepped onto the stage,” Winston remarked about Bieber’s choice, which featured just his boxers and socks.
According to Winston, during rehearsal, Bieber wasn’t proclaiming, “This is my plan.”
“When we reached out to him regarding his creative direction, he simply responded, ‘I’ll just get on stage and sing,’” Winston mentioned, observing that Bieber didn’t make much use of his rehearsal time.
“It was brilliant. We were only seven minutes into his hour-and-a-half rehearsal when he said, ‘How did it look to you? Are you satisfied?’” Winston recalled. “I replied, ‘Oh, my goodness. It looked amazing. I loved it.’ He then said, ‘Great. See you on Sunday!’”
Winston also noted that he requested Bieber to run through his performance a second time so the camera crew could get positioned correctly.
“It was purely his vision,” Winston clarified, emphasizing that many artists choose to include backup singers and dancers. “It was entirely him. This was a defining moment in his career. It stood out significantly compared to his previous performances.”
During the Grammys, held on Sunday, February 1, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Bieber performed his hit “Yukon” from his album *Swag* solo. Following his performance, host Trevor Noah described it as “captivating.”
This year, he received nominations for Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Pop Solo Performance for “Daisies,” and Best R&B Performance for “Yukon.” Although he didn’t win any awards this time, Bieber has already secured two Grammys, awarded in 2016 for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Where Are Ü Now” with Jack Ü, and in 2021 for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “10,000 Hours” with Dan + Shay.
While he sported a nearly nude look during his performance, the artist appeared sharp in an all-black ensemble while posing for photos with his wife, Hailey Bieber. He wore a black shirt beneath an oversized double-breasted blazer, coupled with baggy pants and polished dress shoes. His look was completed with a diamond chain necklace, huggie earrings, and a silver nose ring.
Hailey, 29, shone just as brightly in a coordinating black dress. She wore a strapless Alaïa dress with a fitted bodice and semi-sheer skirt. To add elegance to her ensemble, she adorned herself with a striking diamond ring, a matching silver choker, and earrings.
She completed her glamorous look with dewy skin, subtle blush, and glossy lined lips. Her makeup included a touch of mascara and highlighter on her cheeks, while her brunette hair was elegantly styled in a slicked-back updo, parted down the middle.
