Kourtney Kardashian Opens Up About Feuds with Caitlyn Jenner
Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian are sharing their distinct perspectives on growing up with Caitlyn Jenner.
In the episode of the “Khloé in Wonder Land” podcast aired on Wednesday, May 21, the sisters discussed Caitlyn (formerly Bruce Jenner), who was married to their mother Kris Jenner from 1991 until 2015. (Kris, 69, separated from their father Robert Kardashian in 1991, and Robert passed away in 2003.)
“[Caitlyn] never tried to take on the role of Dad and I always admired that,” Khloé, 40, mentioned during the podcast.
“Well, that wasn’t my experience, which might explain why it was yours,” Kourtney, 46, responded. “I’m thankful for that perspective for you.”
Kourtney recalled feeling that Caitlyn, now 75, was “controlling and authoritative,” often telling her that “certain friends” were not allowed to visit.
For Khloé, Kourtney’s recollections clarified why her sister “didn’t bond” with their stepparent. Khloé had previously believed that Kourtney disliked Kris’ second husband because he was “taking Dad’s place—though that was never the case, as no one could replace Dad.”
Kourtney remembered having conflicts with Caitlyn.
“I would say, ‘I want to call my Dad,’ and [Caitlyn] would hang up the phone,” Kourtney recounted. “We had our shouting contests.”
Khloé was taken aback to find out from Kourtney that her tension with Caitlyn led to her moving in with Robert.
In addition to Khloé and Kourtney, Caitlyn also step-parented Kris and Robert’s other children, Kim and Rob. Together, Caitlyn and Kris have Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
The former Olympian has had a complicated relationship with Kris and some of her stepchildren since the couple’s separation a decade ago, which coincided with Caitlyn’s transition.
In 2023, Caitlyn stated on the U.K.’s This Morning that she no longer communicates with Kris.
“If there’s any exchange, my manager usually speaks to her,” she shared. While elaborating that she feels “much closer to the Jenner side” of her family, Caitlyn added, “I don’t really have contact with Kris anymore. It’s a bit sad because we went through a lot together.”
Caitlyn, who has son Burt and daughter Cassandra from her first marriage to Chrystie Scott, and sons Brandon and Brody from her second marriage to Linda Thompson, remarked: “With as many children as I have, you end up being closer to some than others.”
Last October, Caitlyn marked her 75th birthday with stepdaughter Kim, 44, by her side.
“Family means everything!” she expressed on Instagram at that time. “So many kids and many of the grandkids, all together at once. You all made my birthday evening incredibly special…and your very thoughtful and generous gifts added to the fun (WOW!)! I love you all immensely!”
