LA’ On? Your Guide to Streaming the Premiere Episode

The eagerly awaited “Suits” spinoff is just around the corner.

Similar to the original “Suits,” which premiered in 2011 on USA Network and concluded in 2019, “Suits LA” will be packed with legal intrigue, intense rivalries, and romance when it debuts this month.

The announcement of the spinoff came after a spike in popularity when “Suits” hit Netflix in the summer of 2023 and shattered streaming records.

An exclusive trailer for the upcoming series was revealed by TODAY in January, showcasing a storyline set in Los Angeles, where a former federal prosecutor moves to the West Coast after leaving New York.

Stephen Amell stars as Ted Black, a lawyer and co-founder of a rising LA law firm that represents prominent figures in the entertainment industry.

Even though “Suits LA” features a fresh setting and an entirely new cast, it’s expected to satisfy fans of the original show, especially with “Suits” creator Aaron Korsh onboard as a writer and executive producer for the spinoff.

Gabriel Macht, who portrayed defense attorney Harvey Specter in the original “Suits,” will also make a cameo in the spinoff.

Whether you’re a long-time follower of the “Suits” saga or a newcomer, here’s what you need to know for the premiere of “Suits LA.”

What else to know about ‘Suits LA’

The inaugural season of “Suits LA” will consist of 10 episodes. According to NBC, the series follows Ted Black (Amell) as his law firm encounters a critical crisis. To navigate this, he must adopt a role he has long held in disdain.

Viewers will uncover the “events that led Ted to forsake everything and everyone he loved” years ago.

In the meantime, Ted’s team will “test their loyalties towards both Ted and each other” while “blending their personal and professional lives.”

Alongside Amell, the ensemble cast features Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt, and Bryan Greenberg.

In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Greenberg recently drew comparisons between “Suits LA” and several hit TV shows.

“Think of it as ‘Entourage,'” he remarked. “Not in the partying sense of ‘Entourage,’ but in the deal-making aspects mixed with the vibe of ‘Suits.’ Plus, there’s a touch of ‘Mad Men’ office dynamics. It’s exciting.”

Showrunner Korsh also indicated that the series shares similarities with “Entourage,” as real celebrities will appear as guest stars playing themselves.

“These lawyers focus on entertainment, so they deal with entertainment clients,” he stated. “Often, those clients will be real actors portraying versions of themselves. A big part of the show’s charm lies in watching real actors represent themselves while revealing a glimpse into the struggles of making it in our industry. The cases can sometimes be trivial and at other times quite serious, often with an emotional aspect at their core.”
