Nobody Wants This Season 2: Kristen Bell and Adam Brody Explore Interfaith Love
Season 2 of Nobody Wants This gives a brief look at Kristen Bell and Adam Brody‘s happy ending, but their characters soon grapple with the challenges of interfaith romance.
On Thursday, September 25, Netflix unveiled the first look at the new season, showcasing Joanne (Bell) and rabbi Noah (Brody) enjoying their relationship before reality intrudes. Joanne’s agnostic stance soon stirs conflict as she discovers more about Noah’s Jewish traditions.
“Noah and I are learning to be a ‘we,’” Joanne remarks, but tension arises when she hints at her uncertainty about converting.
The couple also faces the topic of children, with Joanne responding, “Well, we haven’t gotten that far.”
Noah, on the other hand, appeared more optimistic about their future together — at least at first.
“Part of being in a relationship is addressing these issues. And we will,” he reassured Joanne, to which she replied, “I feel like we’ve been discussing that a lot lately.”
At the trailer’s conclusion, Noah expressed doubt about their future, wondering if they were “doomed” as a couple. “Excuse me? You’re not allowed to — no,” Joanne retorted. “I’m the cynical one.”
The sneak peek also introduced viewers to new characters, including Leighton Meester, Seth Rogen, Miles Fowler, Alex Karpovsky, Arian Moayed, and Kate Berlant. Meester’s guest appearance is particularly exciting as it reunites her with husband Brody offscreen.
Meester, 39, and Brody, 45, reignited their romance after reconnecting during the filming of 2011’s The Oranges. Since going public with their relationship, they have worked together on Single Parents, River Wild, and an episode of Meester’s new CW series, Good Cop/Bad Cop.
“Oh, that would be really fun,” Meester told TVLine in February about her potential cameo on Nobody Wants This before her casting was confirmed. “I’m a huge fan. So, yes, that would be amazing.”
When discussing her favorite moments from Nobody Wants This, Meester shared, “Honestly, it’s all pretty good. I particularly enjoyed the basketball scenes; they were hilarious. Each time I see him on screen, I almost forget it’s him, and this show is no exception.”
She continued, “I’m a massive fan of the show and his work, so, like the rest of the audience, I was rooting for their romance. I appreciated how well-developed the characters were, allowing them to be imperfect people finding each other.”
Season 2 of Nobody Wants This premieres on October 23 on Netflix.
