Peter Krause Rejoins 9-1-1 Cast Following Character’s On-Screen Demise
The 118 is back together after the unexpected departure of Peter Krause from 9-1-1 just before season 9.
“Peter Krause [and] Ryan Guzman Stache Battle,” Kenneth Choi shared on Instagram on Friday, July 17, posting a video of his co-stars in a staring contest.
In the clip, Krause, 60, and Guzman, 38, sported baseball caps and sunglasses as they locked eyes.
“I like your mustache,” Guzman said, which Krause echoed back to him.
The two actors then removed their glasses, gazing curiously at each other.
As for who prevailed in the mustache showdown, Choi, 54, had his own hypothesis.
“Can you guess who won?” he joked in an Instagram comment, leading many fans to vote for Krause as the winner.
Krause played Captain Bobby Nash for the first eight seasons of Ryan Murphy’s 9-1-1, where Choi and Guzman were part of his firefighting team. Krause’s character was ultimately killed off in the season finale aired in April 2025.
When the next season resumed in October 2025, Bobby’s fire station and his wife Athena Grant (Angela Bassett) were depicted grappling with the aftermath of his tragic death.
“We experienced a huge emotional moment on the show, losing Peter and Bobby Nash, and I know a lot of the audience felt it deeply,” Jennifer Love Hewitt, who plays 911 operator Maddie Han, exclusively told Us Weekly a month prior. “We felt it too, and I want the audience to know that. We, as a cast and a show, took it to heart. We miss him dearly.”
The ninth season, which wrapped up in May, included several tributes to Bobby.
“He is with us in spirit. He’s in our hearts,” Hewitt, 47, reflected to Us at that time. “It’s just a show, and after nine seasons, you have to evolve and tell different stories. But we miss him too.”
Hewitt’s co-stars shared similar sentiments, all noting the absence of Krause on set.
“He was such a vibrant presence, incredibly kind. We’re fortunate to have worked with him,” Corrine Massiah, who plays Athena’s daughter on the popular drama, told Us. “He was like a father figure, such a warm-hearted individual. So patient and kind, and we wish him nothing but happiness. A truly amazing person.”
